auto-use always deactivates stealth?

#1 Post by rayultine »

Am I the only one who thinks that instantaneously activating race talents like "Wrath of the Woods" shouldn't deactivate stealth when set to "auto-use when enemies are visible and adjacent"?

If the talent breaks stealth, you shouldn't be able to get around that drawback. If you're playing a Stealth build, you have to choose your auto-activated talents carefully.

Why wouldn't that deactivate stealth? Maybe I'm not understanding the scenario correctly.
Sorry about all the parentheses (sometimes I like to clarify things).

I think having the option act like "auto-use when enemies are visible and adjacent, and I'm not in stealth or using a movement infusion" could work, maybe.

A great idea, but would that be a nuisance to code into the game since only a few classes use stealth? Or should such a thing just be default for stealth classes?

My original point comes from a role playing perspective. I understand that casting a spell, chatting with your enchanted dagger, or rubbing on a rune/inscription should break stealth. But the race specific abilities seem as if they are natural and innate abilities of the player character that can be instantaneously called upon. I definitely understand disagreement, but I do think this could be tweaked to make the stealth experience a bit smoother.

The latest SVN version of the game (not realeased yet) includes an option (on a talent by talent basis) to ask for confirmation before using talents, so you can set a talent both to automatically be used and to ask you before being triggered. If you're worried about breaking stealth, you can just select "cancel" if you don't want to take a chance.
