[Rant] Unkillable unique with fearscape

#1 Post by omeg »

So my cursed died in High Peak 1 or 2 when he ran into this thing:

The abilities don't look that bad, but it was just unkillable. Every time it went low it just casted Healing Light and was back to full. Maybe it was possible to drain its mana, but I fought it for a long time and it just always healed to full. Couldn't generate much hate to use some of my disrupting abilities. Had resists/immunities pretty much maxed. It's my first cursed character so maybe I'm just bad, here's my character if someone can think of what I could've done to survive :)

E: Wrap of Stone was used near the end as a panic button, didn't help much.

If this can appease you in the next version fearscape will stop when the creature reaches 0 vim :)
[tome] joylove: You can't just release an expansion like one would release a Kraken XD

I tried hard to disrupt the effect with Harass Prey but to no avail. Oh well, now I can try Stone Wardens :D

Healing light GENERATES positive, rather than consumes it. If it can heal to full with one use, you need to be able to take it down before it can use healing light again, which is just absurd.

What's the difference between that and a heal infusion? Or arcane reconstruction which doesn't really have a high cost? Most enemies are set up so that they don't have resource management issues anyway.

Also, healing light will rarely heal the mob to full (if it does, it didn't have much health in the first place).

There are talents that affect enemy healing, there's the option of silencing/confusing the target, keeping healing on cooldown using stun or a cross-tier effect (brainlock) or burning hex... In short there's a whole lot of tactical options to handle healing opponents.

It was stated that the healing would bring it to full health in the original post, and the creature has ~5610 health. It is VERY hard to keep a creature chainstunned for a long period of time, and some classes simply don't have the ability to consistently disrupt abilities. I think the healing on this boss was excessive, as having a 20 turn plus disruptions time to deal 5610 damage to a boss level creature is absurd. If the creature could only heal 2000, it would be considerably more reasonable.

From the level, spellpower, and sustains, you can tell that fearscape is what is doing the most of the healing there, not healing light. You are overestimating its effectiveness.

In this case you'd want to dispel the sustains if you can (using disperse magic/corrupted negation/gloves of dispersion). From next version fearscape will deactivate when they get to 0 vim so that will help.

Yeah, it might not have healed to full just by Healing Light, I just noticed it was almost full every time after it used that. With 5k HP it was not easy to take down - even if I critted for 1500 pretty regularly on normal mobs this one seemed very resilient despite having not very high resists (and I had talents that help with resist penetration). It was invisible pretty much all the time, so maybe I was just missing, but the combat log seemed to show hits, just for very low. Oh, it also had Evasion. :D

If you run into something that just is unkillable in High Peak, you can make a run for the stairs. Had to do that once with my summoner. I was able to get Athamaton but not a simple bone giant on HP. :)
