Something done to the farportal unlock in RC1?

I am now 3 for 3 for characters in RC1 getting to the farportal unlock in the sher'tul fortress and getting an unbeatable miniboss. Got a rogue/cursed luminous horror who managed to keep me silenced, stunned and confused for the entire fight. Were randbosses buffed for some reason? Was the event buffed? Or am I just getting really really unlucky?
