[RC1] Escort AI path-to-portal assessment

I'm on Dreadfell 2:

You can see the entryway stairs. Escort walked into the room he is currently in and began pacing along the western wall. I used Earth's Eyes and found the portal, so I tunneled a walkway to it. No matter what, waiting many turns on, the AI refuses to walk to the portal, and continues to patrol along the western wall of the room he is currently in.

As an update: I managed to get the AI to walk to the portal, but it required digging out a 2x2 section immediately to the west of where my character stands in the screenshot I posted.

That seems to happen when they target an opponent they cannot see. If you kill the mob they target, they seem to walk to the portal without problem.

No mobs were killed. I dug out a few more walls and the escort walked to the portal without further complaint.
