Gargamel the Dwarf Corruptor

I didnt have internet for weeks and only just now uploaded the char so my memory isnt as fresh as usual when i post here.

Corruptors were always one of my favorite classes, because of the great sustains, very high damage spells, awesome debuffs and excellent aoe capabilities. Oh and the lore because who doesnt want to play a clearly evil bastard once in a while?

Although i tried often, i never got one going as well as this one, which is because the rise to unstoppable glorious power is deceptively slow with this class. All those sustains have to be unlocked first and are meant to be used together. You have to spend 1 cat point and 5 generics to get Willful Tormenter so you dont run around with ~20 vim once you activate a sustain.
Then a cat point for Fearscape and the demon form because aside from being awesome for killing bosses (just not the ones in the temporal rift) its one of the few effective defenses you have. Oh and you NEED Darkfire because sometime you will meet Worms That Walk and their smaller brethren. Since theyre not actually demons afaik you could also fearscape them.
Later i constantly had 8 sustains active (2 from escorts) and getting those means stretching yourself very thin midgame. Earlygame its just like the other mageclasses: nuking the first dungeons and suddenly realising things can and will kill you since youre squishy.

Well i obviously managed to balance the needs somehow but i cant remember, what i got first. I do know that i spent most of the game without the teleport rune, which probably caused at least 1 death and thought long and hard about getting the wild infusion or another category (knowing me i did the foolish thing and got the cat).

Things i know i got very late: Darkfire higher than 1, Corrupted Negation >1, Virulent Disease (very late), the curses, vimsense.

Deaths: Just recently discovered that you can get this info from the charvault (:
2 times getting killed by being dragged in my own spell with a bugged double hit and crit. The 2nd one was not even my fault. ... Yes i checked the talents of the rares after the first time but that one had no pull talent and im sure it wasnt from offscreen. It was a spider rare with Call of Amasomething (the same thing the Mouth uses i think).
Luminous Horror death was probably because they somehow managed to corner me.
The elven mage death was in the crypt i believe. THAT one i remember clearly /=
It was one of those knockoff Room of Deaths filled with 2 rares + ~10 mages and guards all in a nice open space. How i managed to be so stupid to just walk in? Dark Portal casted by one of the mages i think. By then my build was going strong and i did the stupid thing: i tried to daze them with Pacification Hex and delay with Fearscape. Once i got back i remembered that Blood boil + Blood spray + insane crit rate and damage + Overkill equaled a completely free room in 2 turns (x. This "tactic" of just overpowering the opposition was a surprisingly good substitute for all the evasive and defensive talents the class lacks. Blood Boil + Spray also clears the entrance rooms of the prides in 2 turns since Blood Boil slows enemies and you got 20% global speed from the demon form, which means you almost certainly get to act twice without interruptions.
I have no idea how i got killed by a Skeleton Warrior though.

Now for the good things that made it possible to get the Overpowered! achievement (6000 damage in 1 attack)
With Blood Fury active (read: after every single Soul Rot spell) i get ~150% blight damage + 12% all damage.
Now add 300% critical damage and overkill damage spilling from enemies that got killed the same turn and you can imagine how the boss fight went. I even forgot to fearscape them until one was already dead (:
The sustains are necessary though, because Corruptor Spells have little basic damage compared to Archmage (at least thats how it felt)
My saves were excellent, if you add Resilience of the Dwarves and the willpower i got later just because i didnt have anything else remotely useful to put stat points in.
The gear i found lategame was perfect, although if i had the Girdle of Preservation to complete my inofficial set of Ureslaks cloak and the Crown of the Elements i would have been completely unkillable.
Oh and marvel at my custom artifact, which was almost completely useless.
The same can be said of the majority of Corruptor/Reaver artifacts.

I managed to do the Limmir quest on the first try and (of course) found no amulet.

As for why i didnt get the disease skill until later: No synergy with overkill and you dont get your vim back. Very late in the game i only used virulent disease on bosses. The stat reductions are pretty much meaningless and to get some nice damage out of them you need to invest more in the tree. Epidemic is totally useless because unless its a boss youre fighting, everything dies anyway with bloodspray + soul rot. The healing reduction is also of questionable use since there arent many bosses that heal themselves a lot and are also dangerous. Dont remind me of a certain ghoul bulwark though.

It was very fun to play with all the crazy synergy of Overkill and criticals, which made the damage that would usually be completely wasted if you killed something with a 300% crit multiplier something you could count on to at least soften the next wave of enemies. With the great aoe spells clearing vaults was really easy and although i forgot to mention it till now Burning Hex works against every single boss. And Blood Vengeance made Vim management and difficult fights in general much more bearable.

One last thing though i found rather funny is that the aoe of Darkfire, which is a terrible spell btw, always includes you at talent level 5 (range 6 radius 6).
