History or character development in character dump

#1 Post by jenx »

I've been playing Stone Soup and one of the best ways to learn is to look at the char dumps in the online morgues, as they tell you which zones were visited in what order and level, and which abilities were learned in what order and what level.

This would be a fantastic addition to TE4, as when I look at a winning character, I always wnat to know, in what order were stats, talents added and what zones were visited at what levels, etc.

I think this would be hugely popular!!

Makes sense, but I can think of a lot of 'corner cases' which would actually come up quite frequently - tactically rearranging talent points and fleeing/returning to zones come to mind. Dunno how much of a burden it would be on the servers, but perhaps there could be a 'snapshot' of the character's state at every level up (or every save?).

(Not very familiar with DCSS but I couldn't find a character dump with that level of detail, only a list of the dungeon branches explored and how deep.)
Sorry about all the parentheses (sometimes I like to clarify things).

For crawl chardumps, that sort of info's in the huge turn log type thing near the bottom of the dump. Gives when gained level, spells learned and when, what turn/level you visited branches, etc., so forth.

Incidentally, yeah, I wouldn't mind seeing something like Jenx mentioned.
