Sadly, no LUA errors for this. I've repeatedly noticed that ToME4 will sometimes hang and stop updating the graphics entirely until quit out of-quite hard to do without forcequitting if you can't see anything!-if you swap to another window, then back to it.
The behavior seems erratic, but I can note two things that I've noticed that seem to be common threads.
First off, the behavior happens far more if I happen to be swapping to something graphically intensive-like a video stream or video file-instead of just a text document. There were some times when I was watching a speedrun marathon while playing ToME, where I finally gave up playing ToME because it was hanging every thirty minutes to an hour this way.
Secondly, Ctrl+S causes the game to save, and shows normally updating graphics while it is saving. The moment the saving is done, though, the behavior reverts right back-no graphical updating.
You can still do things when it is like this, such as move around on the map or attack enemies, but you won't be able to see anything you're doing. Seems to be purely graphical.

Yeah, this has kinda' been happening since the betas were still in the single digits -- the "and earlier" is particularly apt, heh. Just kinda' chiming in, yeh. If we ever see a fix for it, a beautiful day that will be
