command staff?
I'm running my first archmage and doing fine, but I'm confused about how Command Staff works. I found Kor's Fall in an early vault (W00T!), I'm using it to good effect but from experimenting with Command Staff as far as I could tell, the staff, it does nothing! What am I doing wrong?

Re: Dumb questions thread
Staves generally give a bonus to a damage type - for example, the staff you start with will have +10% (whatever). Command Staff lets you pick the damage type your staff boosts, and if it is a greater staff or one of the artifacts that boost multiple elements like Kor's Fall, it will boost all the elements in the category you pick.
<Ferret> The Spellblaze was like a nuclear disaster apparently: ammo became the "real" currency.

At what level does stealth actually become effective? Also do creatures stealth detection vary? (besides those with piercing sight talent)
Re: Dumb questions thread
I find stealth to be effective once you reach about 20 power (lvl 10, with some builds). Stealth detection is based on level, cunning, and talents/equipment, so it varies a bit creature-to-creature, but not too much.wobbly wrote:At what level does stealth actually become effective? spellblaze fallout
I've got big trouble surviving Spellblaze Fallout. Whats up with that place?
Re: Dumb questions thread
going on holidays. If I want to play on another computer do I just copy the whole folder with the characters name from the save folder?

Advanced necrotic minions--->Minion mastery, is it worth it? Because I can already imagine my own vampires and liches blasting me with spells before the enemy does.
Re: Dumb questions thread
Fairly (though not entirely) sure most or all of the advanced minions use th'tactical AI, so they generally won't go fratricidal on you. Shouldn't have to worry about them shooting you in the back of the head.
Just the mages. And maybe the plain archers, I'unno. Been a bit since I ran a necro.
Anyway, as I understand it, advanced mastery is pretty alright if you're already investing into minions.

Re: Dumb questions thread
Hi couple of dumb questions for beta 42.
1 - I cannot change the resolution in game. It just seems to ignore me?
2 - In shop windows, is there a way to switch between my inventory and shop stock using the keyboard? I'm not really a mouse player.

Survive as Archmage?
Hi - 2nd time I get an Archmage > clvl 20. http://te4.org/characters/19211/tome/9a ... 74c9017fb7
How am I to survive with <400 hp...
Autoexploring - running into 2-3 nasties who cast > 400 damage = dead.
I can't keep shields up all the time can I?
(I have less trouble when I get the chance to shield up.)

Re: Dumb questions thread
Put more points in Constitution, get the Thick Skin talents, stay out of damage range, get better shields and use invisible or teleport when in trouble. That's just a few tips!
Re: Dumb questions thread
thanx.. but its impossible to keep shields up while exploring.Grey wrote:Put more points in Constitution, get the Thick Skin talents, stay out of damage range, get better shields and use invisible or teleport when in trouble. That's just a few tips!
If/when I get a chance to shield/tele I can mange... but it's the 2+ guys that get to shoot at me first that kill me...
(am I wrong? but other/older rouge like gave you 1st chance when you ran into another bad dude? Or is it about speed?)
Re: Dumb questions thread
You could always use detect spells/wands & make sure you have a long sight range. The value of being able to see them before they see is something a lot of people probably underestimate.
Re: Dumb questions thread
Where do I get stun immunity and how does it "work" exactly?
I did the advanced tutorial (or at least part of it I couldn't get past the part with the elves that were pushing you back), but a lot of times I'm not sure whether I need to look at physical save, mental save, or spell save.

Re: Dumb questions thread
Stun immunity can be gained from equipment talents, and one (unlocklable) race. It ias a straight chance to not have the stun applied to you, so if you have 20% stun immunity, there is an 80% chance you will be stunned, for 50% immune there's a 50% chance, and so on.noxnoctum wrote:Where do I get stun immunity and how does it "work" exactly? .
Good sources of stun immunity include Shield Wall (lvl 1 Bulwark talent), Berserker (lvl 4 Berserker talent), and imbueing Quartz into armour (as an alchemist, it is a tier 3 gem).
