Add UI video options

#1 Post by wobbly »

After playing around with my video setting the game now loads & saves fast. However just going into my inventory menu is still painfully slow. It would be nice to either be able to turn off things like text scrolling & graphics or be able to use an old-fashion text based inventory menu. The biggest slow down for me is when the interface box (use/equip/drop) moves from small to larger.

I'll see but really if it is that slow it just means your video card driver is not doing opengl correctly. So your CPU has to do it and that can not be fixed except by getting a better driver

Already tried that 1. Windows just tells me my driver is up-to date. Will check into whether this is something I can upgrade manually.

Yes, windows alone will think it's up to date.

Type dxdiag (for instance) and find out exactly what graphics card you have. Under the display tab. Then search the web (preferably the manufacturer or chipset's website) for drivers for that card. It is almost definately out of date. (GFX card drivers get released every couple of months or so).

yep. Turns out it thinks it's up to date because windows 7 doesn't support my graphics video card at all. Managed to force it to install an XP version which seems to run better but far from perfect.
