adapting ToME to the OUYA game system.
there appears to be a open source game console that may just be the right fit for TOME. thought someone may be interested in porting http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/ouy ... me-console
Re: adapting ToME to the OUYA game system.
Sounds like it will take an Android port.
First I've heard of this system. Sounds really cool

The chance that this console is abandonware is higher than it actually ever being sold. Not worth any effort until they can actually prove that it exists. All you see currently are 3D renders.

I agree the chance is high of that happening. The concept is cool though.

There's been plenty of interest in an android port anyway:edge2054 wrote:Sounds like it will take an Android port.

I guess we need to find Rappler so we can start cracking the whip to see this done!

Personally, I'm having a hard time seeing how a game like ToME is a good fit for a console, without a good deal of redesign. The whole control scheme would have to change, wouldn't it? It's difficult (for me at least) to accurately hit the diagonals on a game controller, and you have a much more limited set of buttons to bind to actions.
I suppose the console might support a usb or bluetooth keyboard?

You can get around this by having a "hold" button - you don't move while it's pressed, so you hold it down, get the control stick where you want it, and then let go. It works quite well, actually.mal2 wrote:It's difficult (for me at least) to accurately hit the diagonals on a game controller, and you have a much more limited set of buttons to bind to actions.
Similarly, you could have pages of hotkeys, each one mapping to abilities to each of the 4 basic buttons, and to the 4 basic buttons while holding down L. Hold down the R button and press left/right to scroll between the pages.
Addons: Arcane Blade Tweaks, Fallen Race, Monk Class, Weapons Pack
Currently working on Elementals. It's a big project, so any help would be appreciated.

Considering that they already have 8 1/2 million bucks in pre-sales, I'm pretty sure this product will indeed be real.
Whether it will flop or succeed is another matter. Again, however, they've already sold 8 1/2 million dollars worth, so that ain't a bad start.

Looks exciting, and well priced, but i would up the system specs a bit. Very tempted to go for it myself. But contained myself a bit.
