Happens to me all the time, though for me its the hotkey bar partially offscreen. Hit "Esc" and choose to reset the interface. I gotta do that almost every time I restart the game.
This did not work. However uping the resolution did. At 800x600 res there is also another problem where you can't read a monsters stats if it is standing on an object because they are off the screen.

How do criticals on counters stack is it 250% or 300% damage?

Manathrust beam?

Hi, started my first Archmage (Shalore).
Got manathrust to lvl 3, which can beam.
But it only beams to designated target - but no further?
I recall older rouge like that beam progressed through the target and hitting monster behind designated target.
Why not so in Tome?

The beam will hit all targets that are on its path. If you have two or more enemies in a row, aim at the one who is the farthest away from you and the spell will hit all targets between you and it.

Phase door vs Teleport?

Hi, my first archmage wonders whether to invest in Phase door or Teleport. (I see the differences - but pro's con's in battle? Strattegies?)

get phase door to level 4, you can target what you want to teleport as well as being able to pick the general area it ends up (so no more teleporting right into the mob of enemies you're trying to get away from) it can be used to kite hostiles, reposition yourself or to outright run away, very useful

teleport is similer but teleport is more of an escape spell, useful if you cleared out most of the current level, but i only put 1 point into teleport so i can get displacement shield (which is very, very good in my opinion)

You can manually target further behind anything you feel like (just target an empty square, either via mouse or shift+movement key).

I'd gather that the primary reason beams don't go out to their furthest extent is simply because several classes (and arguably any of them, given a few artifacts and escort quests) simply don't want to beam all the way out all the time -- entirely too possible to hit something you don't want to hit. Later in the game, there's even cases where you might want to avoid hitting a particular enemy further behind a particular target, due to a few nasty talents.

That said, there's nothing really stopping the implementation of a beam that just keeps going -- both arcane blades and golems have a bit of code dedicated to beaming without nailing friendlies (though it can still be an issue with some retributive talents).

I used to play beta36. Today I download beta41, and it is different from beta 36 after I clicked "new game". It asks me to select a module, but no module appears in the list. I have already checked on the two options, show all modules and show incompatible. What's wrong?

1. Does your light radius affect your stealthiness? I mean, when you're not actually using the stealth skill, does a larger light radius affect the chance that you'll alert a monster?

2. Every once in a while I'll notice that my sustained skills have been switched off, even though I'm positive I never deactivated them. Are there monster or trap debuffs that do this?

Is there any interest in this? I did create a simple addon for this, and when I asked Aoi if I should show what I did or just put it out to download, I don't remember ever getting an answer. So I assumed that I was the only one that still wanted it, and didn't do anything with it. If there is still interest, I'll see about making it officially an addon.

Please do, heh. I have occasional issues with scrolling with the new level up UI, and would be pretty happy to revert to th'old one.

I've had those issues too (or at least similar ones), but I had just figured that it was something I did or another one of my addons causing it.

Assuming that I didn't screw anything up, I did upload the addon. It should work, but let me know if it validates for you. I grabbed the MD5 sum out of the te4log file, but it's not validating for me when I use my online profile. I'm not certain if it's because I did something wrong or what, so if it doesn't validate for you then I'll have to investigate further.

When I'm hiding around a corner, why can monsters out of my LOS still see me and hit me with their spells?

LoS in ToME is asymmetric. Actually your plot was not completely correct, but in the following situation E can see you and you cannot see him.
