Did you copy the folders from your old download to the new, or the other way around? Also, you tried launching the new one, as opposed to the old?

I just tried it out and it worked for me, but that doesn't mean much if others can't reproduce it.

Quauru/takeourcarsnow: at what point did it stop working for you? when you tried to make a new game, or when you opened the application?

Lukep's skeleton app worked for me on a fairly vanilla OS X 10.7.4 system.

I haven't done much with it yet, but the Frankenapp launches, creates characters, and seems to play fine. If there's a glitch, I haven't found it yet.

Thanks for the help. Now all I need is therapy for the new stat/skill development page...

Application started but the screen stayed grey. Maybe i did something wrong, going to try couple more times, if it worked for some people it should work for me too. I run Lion.

Unzip and launch the application without modifying it. If it works as intended, it should launch to the main menu, and trying to create a new game should bring up an (empty) module selection dialogue. If it doesn't work, something else is the problem, and you may need to wait for b42.

If it works up to there, copy the remaining files in the module folder over (following the instructions from earlier). The engine folder contains everything needed now.

One additional data point:

After I upgraded to OS X 10.8 ("Mountain Lion"), the modified TE4 app that worked on 10.7.4 wouldn't launch because it needed X11. I had installed X11 under 10.7, but not yet reinstalled it on the fresh 10.8.

I don't know which X11 libraries TE4 needs and don't have time to figure it out now, but I bet that the people who had trouble running lukep's modified app (the earlier one, don't know about the revised one) didn't have X11 installed (but got less helpful error messages under earlier versions of the OS). If you're still having trouble running b41, I would recommend installing X11 and trying again (it either came on your OS X install disc as an optional install or can be downloaded for free from Apple). Alternatively, it may be a clue to help people build a stand-alone package.

Hopefully that's of some use.
