As long as a details window pops up when I highlight one of the stats/talents, this looks REALLY cool.

Any success in this field? I just manually replaced the file instead, which gives a bad game version and prevents profiles and linking any interesting items I find.

Success? Technically, yes, as in it does work. I did create it in addon directory format, have cheat mode enabled, and never log into chat, so I have no idea if it validates correctly, but it does work.

Since it only requires the copy-and-paste of one file (b40's LevelupDialog.lua) and the creation of another (init.lua), do you want me to walk you through what I did, or try to archive it up and post it? I'd prefer the former; I've stumbled along with addon creation in the past, and walking you through what I did allows others to chime in and say "why are you doing it that way? Here's what you should do instead" (i.e., I might learn something if others look over what I did).

Personally, I like the message window. I really like daftigod's suggestion for how to change it, but there's one thing I really miss regarding stat increases. Seeing how it affects encumbrance and resources as you add or remove stats. If one took daftigod's suggestion and removed some of the space between the stats, you could add in the (pertinent) resources and encumbrance at the bottom of the column.

As implemented in b[41], I have only a few problems with this:

1.) When I scroll over a stat, it only gives me the basic description of it. I want to see the exact derived stats that my increases have changed, like I used to. I'd really like seeing ALL the factors the stat changes (i.e. summoners using Cun to determine how many creatures they can summon, for example, or Corruptors using Wil to determine how much Vim they gain on a kill). These details can be critical in determining a build properly, and the lack of that info can seriously hurt new players.

2.) When I see my stat levels, I'm 99% sure what I'm seeing is the total stat, from all the points I've dropped into it AND any equipment I'm wearing. Since the equipment boosts are only temporary, I'd like some way to see what the unmodified stat is. I could figure it out just by adding up all my equip bonuses, but that's tedious and needless work, which means it adds nothing to the game. I'd honestly be happier ONLY seeing the unmodified stats on the level up screen, but getting details would be best.

3.) I've seen several people on the chat say they preferred the old screen. While I don't agree personally, I do understand. Having an option somewhere that could switch between them would be really nice.

I personally think DG should wait at least 3 betas before introducing such switch-back options. That's the only way to be sure that players aren't just having a knee-jerk reaction, or that problems with the new system can't be addressed to everyone's satisfaction. Otherwise we end up with a slew of options that all need individual support and maintenance, and inevitably bugs arising when this isn't done properly. As a personal preference I'd rather DG spend his time coding cool new things than maintaining old styles for a minority that won't/can't adjust.

I just wish I could see the talent names on the screen. The new screen seems geared towards those who are good at visual association. I am not.
Sorry about all the parentheses (sometimes I like to clarify things).

This isn't going to happen. A second option for a level up screen could be introduced but the old one was terribly bug ridden which is why it was rewritten.

Please make it so we can see the unmodified as well as modified stat points.
Seconding this. Something simple like current slash base (f.e. 33/18) should fit in without problems. More info on mouseover would also be nice.

I do like the new look a lot, helps with the low-ish resolutions I'm usually playing on. Daftigods suggestions look good, seeing the split between generics and class talents would be helpful.
