Re: Dumb questions thread
You can't recover your old one, but you can get a new one. They drop randomly, and might be for sale in the rune shop of the starting town in the south-east of the map (Elvala? I can't remember the name).

For damage, but skills like Dual Strike and Dirty Fighting still use physical power to determine success. Guess on future antimagic psiblade characters, I'll put spare points into strength instead of cunning.Sirrocco wrote:I'm under the impression that psiblades work off of mindpower.stinkstink wrote:How do you boost phys. power with psiblades? Re: Dumb questions thread
Hi again.
Q1: How do I make macros?
E.g. how do i bind a key (combination) to use a specific item?
Last night I found my first vault! ~16 Small 2*2 rooms stuffed with loot & bad guys. Woho!
It was painstaking to "press i, select pick axe, choose use, mark wall".
The vault provided some cool loot for my lvl. 17 Bulwark. The ~8th room contained 4 wyrms, 3 were multi coloured.. highest at lvl 44 !!
My years old experience told me to get *** out... but I had to take a blow - to see... sure... hit me for 200 hp or so.. I teled out and figure I've have to leave it at that.
Q2: "Block" value on shields - what does that mean? Took a while to figure "hige values == better", but Im still uncertain.
Q3: Damage calculation? The (xx, yy) numbers should be high - I remember. From way back I remember a low (xx, yy) can be weigh up due to light weight - which gave more hits / turn. Is this still true? How can I easily see/understand if a low (xx, yy) will outperform a high (xx, yy) ? I mean roughly. Can a small dagger be better than a heavy sword - how do I see it?
Finally - damn you - I'm getting sucked back to rouglike after ~6 years of leave... =)

if I understand correctly, the block value is the amount of damage the shield will protect you (up to...) when using block talent. After being hit by an enemy, you can counter-strike him and do a lot more damage.achoice wrote:Hi again.

In order to inflict counter-strike on enemies, you have to be hit by enemy; so the block talent also lower your defense by the block value itself.
see also this bug report and this topic.

Re: Dumb questions thread
You can do this by dragging the item down to the icon skillbar.achoice wrote:Hi again.

alocritani has the right of it, but note also that to counterstrike your shield must block the full damage of an attack unless you have the Riposte talent.Q2: "Block" value on shields - what does that mean? Took a while to figure "hige values == better", but Im still uncertain.
If you press shift-C, it will bring up your character sheet. Under the Attack tab, there should be a column that lists your physical attack stats, one of which is "Damage". That Damage stat is the actual base damage your melee attacks will deal, which is further modified by talents and armor and such.Q3: Damage calculation? <Ferret> The Spellblaze was like a nuclear disaster apparently: ammo became the "real" currency.
Re: Dumb questions thread
Yesterday my 17lvl cleared the "Lightning storm in town"-quest. (easy with a good sling. )
When I went south west to look for the "town in the mountain" I repeatedly got ambushed by powerful packs. Some out powered me, one even killed med. Others I managed to flee from.
Is there any way to minimize/avoid being ambushed? Traveling unarmed? Any way to easily escape an ambush?

Re: Dumb questions thread
There is no way to avoid ambushes.
Travelling unarmed does not help.
The only thing that you can do is to find items that increase movement speed (boots of speed, nimble armors, etc). With them you can flee the ambushers when you see them in the wilderness and you will be faster than them.

Guys, how to obtain cold resistance? I'm constantly being frozen and shattered(?) by the Shade
.

Re: Dumb questions thread
New dumb question - whats with the clone of my that showed up while I was fighting some rare? It showed up as "friendly" but didn't do anything to help. I was too afraid to try to attack it - my character was just too tough to risk it.

It's a bug.Kalirion wrote:New dumb question - whats with the clone of my that showed up while I was fighting some rare? It showed up as "friendly" but didn't do anything to help. I was too afraid to try to attack it - my character was just too tough to risk it.
Re: Dumb questions thread
What you really want is stun/freeze resistance, or a higher spell save stat. Both can be gotten from gear. Also helps to have shields and ways to disable the Shade quickly.Malakim wrote:Guys, how to obtain cold resistance? I'm constantly being frozen and shattered(?) by the Shade :( .

Did the bug with the game not working properly on Windows 7 64 bit get resolved?

Re: Dumb questions thread
Here's a potentially "dumb" question, but I can't seem to find my answer anywhere on the wiki or in the forums.
What's the purpose of a "charball"? I understand it basically contains all the information about your character, stats, equipment, etc. What I don't get, is why would you want to download it? Up until now I was under the impression I could just toss that charball in the right folder on another computer and keep playing with that character, however it seems you need to copy your characters "save" folder... so why bother downloading a charball at all?
