[b41] sometimes autoexplore ignores items on the ground

#1 Post by wesleyshaver »

While this happens seemingly randomly this can be duplicated in the 5-room "troll castle" vault that spawns in Old Forest. The upper-rightmost rune/infusion is ignored when autoexploring. I happened to draw this vault twice in a row in Old Forest and the same rune was skipped both times.

Yeah, I have code that fixes this and makes auto-explore 2-3x faster. The problem, however, is I haven't touched this code for over four months and I don't think I was quite finished with refactoring auto-explore. I'll try to wrap it up sometime this Summer. Thanks for the bug report, wesleyshaver!

Not only items on the ground, but also bosses still on the level. I was on Norgos Lair level 3 and after a while, autoexplore moved me back to the the 'previous level' exit. However, I had not yet encountered Norgos. I moved some distance away and autoexplore again took me back to the exit. I then found (and defeated) Norgos by manual exploration.

Auto-explore never searches for actors. It only explores previously unexplored area's.

It is not intended to search for bosses, and I doubt that this functionality will be added (anyone is free to do so).
