Re: New player, feedback and stuff
Epidemic + Retch is so much fun though

Re: New player, feedback and stuff
ok, I can see that VD is not very popular! I forgot the other reason, however, that I like it. It has range 10 unlike most other corruptor talents, and this can be helpful to drop on an enemy at times.
Perhaps I should try playing without VD to see what it's like!

I've asked a question about the interaction VD and Cyst Burst in a new topic, so that other players can more easily find the answer:

Hopefully one of you can answer it for me!

Soul Rot, Blood Grasp and Blood Spray all have range 10 on max rank, and are all very damaging.
Oh yeah, about that Cyst Burst by the way. Would it be too much if it spread all of the diseases on the original target on other targets? Seeing as spreading 3 diseases to all targets that way requires 4 turns of casting it's justified imo.

As I thought, cyst burst spreads according to vd level, so one final justification for 5/5 on vd would be if cyst burst is being used.

Jesus. I might need to play a corruptor next beta.
Re: New player, feedback and stuff
My thought exactly. In case it gets nerfed for b40...

Re: New player, feedback and stuff
In my admittedly limited experience the worst problem corruptors face is that their talents use a lot of vim, that without vim they are a sitting duck, and that they lack reliable ways to replenish themselves while in combat (or otherwise). Drain has a huge cooldown and doesn't grant much vim (or result on much damage, for that matter). Bloodcasting only works when you've run out of vim, and has a huge cooldown as well (and drains your HP, which is kind of a given, but added to the two previous caveats, makes it very sucky). Vimsense + leech actually require you to get beaten up. As for willpower, it requires ridiculous ammounts for the gains to be significant, and it only works after killing stuff, so....
Re: New player, feedback and stuff
Vim management for corruptors becomes basically trivial past level 30 or so, since the vim gain from Drain keeps going up but the vim cost of your spells stay the same. Until then, you do have to be careful with resource management, but this is true for many classes.

Re: New player, feedback and stuff
Not to this extent, barring perhaps the Cursed class. I think the class' balance is badly broken if it's broken until level 30 (with many other classes by that point I'd be halfway through the Far East, except with alchemists, which can easily reach that in their early 20s. But alchemists are broken the other way around: ridiculously easy)
Suggestion: make bloodcasting a sustained ability. It's not like cast from hitpoints is anything other than a desperate measure, anyway.

Re: New player, feedback and stuff
What I meant was that vim management goes from moderately challenging to completely trivial. At no point is it "badly broken" or really even excessively difficult. Are you perhaps unaware that killing a creature with a corruption spell refunds all the vim spent on the killing blow? I can't help but think that there's some vital part of the vim mechanic you're missing here, if you think it's so hard. Pretty much everything you encounter should leave you with a net gain of like 25 vim or so; rarely do you actually end up with less vim than you started.
PS- you are severely underestimating Bloodcasting, Vimsense, and Drain. Willpower is useless for vim recovery though, I'd agree.

I used rune of heat beam and acid wave on my skeleton characters. They are damage that doesn't cost a turn, which can be the difference between you taking a turn of damage and not.
Here you can see one of my skeleton characters that beat the game constantly using acid wave, which I found very useful.

Re: New player, feedback and stuff
I know about the refund mechanic, and I still find it's not enough. If every encounter was an one-shot kill, there'd be no trouble, but thing is, it's not that rare to meet stuff that needs a couple of shots. And vim powers are quite expensive. Even a meager soul rot costs 10 vims, let alone the actual useful things like blood sprayAre you perhaps unaware that killing a creature with a corruption spell refunds all the vim spent on the killing blow? I hope I am, but I can't help but think that with just a couple of turns, if you're facing a tough horde (or even a not-so-tough one. I'm finding critters that don't oneshot even in the starting dungeons) they'd only suffice for a head start.you are severely underestimating Bloodcasting, Vimsense, and Drain.
Re: New player, feedback and stuff
If you two-shot normal enemies with Drain and Soul Rot, you're coming out ahead by about 25 vim. If you three-shot something with Drain, Soul Rot, and say, Blood Spray, you're still coming out ahead by like 15 vim. Nothing short of elite enemies should be taking you more than three shots to kill, and even enemies that require four shots (Drain, Soul Rot, Blood Grasp, Blood Spray) would leave you only 5 vim behind. And that's without counting the vim that you can get from Vimsense, which only requires that you take 3 hits to start making a profit on vim. If you've used level 3 Bone Shield, you know how easy it is to take 3 hits. In the right situation, Vimsense ends up providing literally hundreds of vim per use. Bloodcasting is to buy time while Drain and Vimsense cool down during boss fights, and 20-30 hp to cast a spell is a pretty advantageous trade, considering how quickly you heal with Blood Grasp and Vimsense, not to mention any regen/healing infusions you may have.
