[b38] Dwarf Paradox Mage

#1 Post by donkatsu »

Schrodinger the Dwarf Paradox Mage was my b38 followup to http://forums.te4.org/viewtopic.php?f=49&t=30534.

Just beat the game with the new PM changes and the class seems much more polished now. It was still pretty easy but I attribute much of that to me lucking out with swell drops (Goedelath Rock + voratun ring by my second Pride, a nice randart chronomancer staff, an early pickaxe with +40% confuse immunity, gem tome, Spydric Poison). Both of my deaths were to Atamathon, who killed me twice in one turn through full health and shields, so I got sent to the Eidolon Plane from the Eidolon Plane, which was pretty silly.

The fact that Temporal Fugue doesn't shut stuff down 100% means that you actually have to be cautious if they get in a lucky shot. More confusion nerfs, both for players and NPCs, are of course always welcome.
Use of Energy Absorption is much more strategic now, since you're encouraged to try to use it when only your important spells are on cooldown.
Dimensional Step and Wormhole are still a fantastic escapes but not as utterly infallible as they used to be, introducing the possibility of actual danger if things go south.
Best of all, the Timeline Threading tree is useful now, thanks to the nerfs to other spells. Gather the Threads is useful because of Static History's nerf, Rethread and Temporal Clone are useful because of Temporal Fugue's nerf, and See the Threads is useful as a scumming spell because of Moment of Prescience's nerf.

Great changes all in all, and still a fun class as always.
