Hello,
Last time I played this game was about eight years ago. I'm not exactly sure if it's the same game. I think it was called Tales of Middle Earth back then. Was the name changed or is that a different game?
So I gave it a play last night and basically I just went from one forested area to another. I did that about 4 times until I got bored. I was just being directed down one route. I thought I would be able to go from town to town, find dungeons, and stuff like that in a more RPG type fashion.
Am I missing something?
Thanks!

Totally new game.
You don't seem like you enjoyed it. Which class did you try? Did you run the tutorial?

Re: Revisiting ToME
I enjoyed it for awhile but it just seemed to be the same thing over and over. I'm not knocking it. If that's the game then that's fine.
Yes, I did the tutorial. I get how to play. Like I said I was just expecting something more RPG like with towns and dungeons.

Re: Revisiting ToME
There are 10-ish towns and 50-ish zones, most of which are accessible from the world map. Sounds like you only saw the Trollmire. In other words, go play more!

World map?
I didn't see that in the key bindings; I must have missed it. How do I bring up the world map?
Also, the little boxes in the bottom that show your powers, can you rearrange those?
Thanks

Re: Revisiting ToME
To get to the world map, you can either use the Rod of Recall, or you can return to the start of the zone and use the "change level" command ('<' or '>' by default) on the worldmap icon. Auto-explore ('z') should take you there after the level is fully explored.
You can just Drag'n'Drop 'em! You can also move the UI elements around by unlocking them (the little lock icon in the little 5-button bar in the lower right).vbmark wrote:Also, the little boxes in the bottom that show your powers, can you rearrange those?

Re: Revisiting ToME
Your character normally starts on an entrance to the world map. Press < or > to move to it (or right-click on your char for a contextual menu). Most of the game is spent inside forests and dungeons though, killing monsters for their precious loot. The fun and variety in the game tends to come from the different classes and their unique abilities. Many classes start out locked though.
Re: Revisiting ToME
You just start off in the first dungeon.
Which happens to be a forest, in most cases.

Re: Revisiting ToME
I got to the world map! Thank you everyone for your help.
I went to a town and fought in an arena which was cool.
Now I'm in a dungeon.
Also, it was nice to be able to reorder my talents in the bar on the bottom -- thanks!
