Great game, on a par with ADoM for the best Roguelike I've played but with a nicer interface.
I've been dying a lot and restarting, learning a bit each time. My current game was going very well. I'm
beginning to find out what skills are best for me to train (playing Cornac bulwark at the moment) and I had
a lucky find for a weapon early on that helped a lot. L23 and getting quests done...
...and then the problem. I was dealing with Daikara and dug my way into a fort surrounded by rock that
was on the bottom level. Looked impressive and the resulting fight lived up to it. I had to teleport out
several times to hide and heal, but eventually only the boss was left. I was standing up fine, bashing away
with shield and sword. I had nearly won when the boss started moving away and they were pretty fast. I
lost sight of them. If I recall correctly, I was either confused or blinded by their final attack. I followed them,
came round a corner and found a pile of loot. 6 items, including an artefact.
The problem is that the quest is not marked as finished in my journal, which means that I can't carry
on with the main quest line.
I've been around the level, just in case the pile of loot was left over from the massive battle in the castle
earlier and the boss is still around somewhere, but I found nothing.
Have I missed something because I'm a newbie who doesn't know how to do that quest, or is it a bug
because I didn't see the boss die? For all I know, something else killed them. They were nearly dead, so
maybe they triggered a trap nearby and that killed them. If so, can I edit the savefile to show that quest
as completed?
I don't want to abandon this character. They were doing so well.
