this is one thing that I really don't understand. only justification is, you can't advance any more, so go finish the game. the big problem is, it favors races with big exp penalties which have great race trees and hp/lvl.
okay, with farportal, there's some extended opportunity for more xp, but otherwise, the game only has a limited amount of things you can kill. so basically, races with less xp penalty should get more levels.
here's the notion. weak races, with weak race trees and few hp/lvl, should get more levels and so more stat points and talent points. strong races with awesome race trees and better hp/lvl end up getting fewer stat and talent points. so that's the decision to make when starting. starting with better races may be easier, but you'll be scrounging for xp late in the game to get a few more talent/stat points. starting with weaker races will be tougher, but you'll have more developed talents and as many or more stat points late in the game, but probably still less hp.
level caps just seem artificial, and I don't like them. I think the game could be more interesting (though tougher for the developers to try to balance, yes I understand) without them.
okay, so I'm just griping because I hit lvl 50 with my Higher TW and there's a lot of the game left to play yet. makes me think I should've chosen a dwarf or elf to get the better stats and race trees, and I don't like that.

Re: get rid of the level cap
The xp penalties are a bit of a fallacy, since zones adjust their level to you within a certain range anyway. I personally think they could just be removed and no one would notice the difference (except maybe yeeks).
The level 50 cap has an important purpose balance wise. Rather than changing it I think we should instead look at the levelling curve in the game and determine if players are accelerating too much at certain points and if it should be flattened out across the length of the game more.

I'm definetely in favor of removing the XP modifiers as it doesn't really...fit with level scaling and a level cap.
It can sometimes be to your advantage to be lower level, which makes XP penalties as a balancing factor pretty iffy.
Also was the yeek XP modifier put in for legacy/tradition sake(traditionally, yeeks in bands level up super fast) or because it 'made sense' that they'd learn quicker?
