So after further testing by my lvl 50 rogue who's traps seemed suspiciously week, I found 3 major issues with traps. In order of severity:
1) Poison Gas Trap is completely broken. The dot portion never sticks, it only hits them for x initial dmg and the effect gets shrugged off.
While it had a 0% stick rate on the enemies I could find, I eventually got it to stick to me roughly 1/10th of the time by reducing my physical save to 11, and it was reduced by 2 turns (from 5 to 3). All of my offensive stats were at least 2 tiers higher than my physical save.
2) +dmg modifiers do not apply to trap damage, although the trap tooltip is updated as if it does. I.e, my Explosion Trap does 410 normally, I equip a firelords ring which adjusts the tooltip to 450, but it still does 410. Same thing with effects like weapons of sacrifice. Perhaps it's intended that traps shouldn't get modified, but if so then the tooltip shouldn't get modified either.
3) Dmg penetration does not apply to traps, tested with fire/nature penetration. Perhaps intended, but if so should probably be indicated somewhere.
