Re: Favorite game breakers
Reckless Charge + crowds: Reckless Charge allows you to hit (a theoretical max of) 32 times at (a max of) 150% weapon damage in perfect situations. I believe that Cleave attacks can even be added on to this, giving 32 * 150% + 24 * 70% weapon damage, for a grand total of 6480% weapon damage done in a single turn, in addition to 56 times the weapon procs. I did over 15000 damage in a use with my Cursed, but would've done more if the display didn't cut out damage after enemies die. It is also useful against single enemies, giving three attacks at 150% damage, and either closing in, or ending one space away, and forcing them to come to you.
EDIT: 17240 damage is my new record, and it could easily go higher with the right setup. (re-edit: 19237 damage)
EDIT 2: what the damage would be with the right setup, but not depending on luck (for crits, damage range etc...). I would hit for an average of 41835 damage with the right setup.

Couldn't reproduce it. Enemy often strike back.lukep wrote:Movement Infusions for Global Speed: Pop a movement infusion, then swap weapons, manage inventory/equips etc, then attack an enemy (follow with attack rune if desired). This will take almost no time, so phase door away and repeat, giving the enemy no time to react to the attacks in melee (or ranged).
Re: Favorite game breakers
Tried it again with a new char, and the attacking part doesn't work... which is odd, as I got about 80% success with one character in a stretch. It still works for inventory management and instant abilities+running. Edited entry to reflect this.Postman wrote:Couldn't reproduce it. Re: Favorite game breakers
Corona + talent on hit (spell) + High crit rate: untested, but could lead to a positive feedback loop, where corona would trigger the Black Robe (or Eelskin armour, fiery choker etc...), which would then crit and trigger another shot of Corona. The only limit on this is the small amount of energy drained by Corona. Would require about a 20% chance to cast a spell with 80% crit rate while near 6 enemies to automatically increase, anything else would just help maintain it at a given level. Hymn of moonlight is intended to work with Corona, so it isn't a game breaker.
EDIT: this works amazingly well. I'm still not to positive feedback, but getting half again as many corona hits in addition to extra lightning strikes is amazing. One turn I got 6 lightning strikes and 8 crits from Twilight Surge (with Hymn of Moonlight on).

Off-topic: Luke, how the hell do you find so many ways to break this game lol.
Re: Favorite game breakers
I always look out for anything that can synergise, and I got a much better understanding of how talents work by doing the (quite outdated by now) talent spoilers. Most of the time I look for anything with one strong downside preventing it from being overpowered, and look for something to counteract it. A good example of this is Disruption shield + invulnerability/extra lives. Other times, I pick a goal, and see if it is achievable. Examples of this are 100% suppression and Pity, stacked life leech and locking yourself in Time Prison permanently. Lastly, I just look for odd behaviour, and see how it can be turned against my opponents. One example of this is Freeze breaking targeting, which is very good for escaping from bosses.Rectifier wrote:Off-topic: Luke, how the hell do you find so many ways to break this game lol.

Ah I see, thanks for the response.

See a few posts up for details.lukep wrote:Corona + talent on hit (spell) + High crit rate:
Adding Fiery Choker for more activations of Lightning (Volcano cannot crit, so it can't trigger Corona on its own) and Resource Leech to deal with the insane amounts of energy used per turn makes this a positive feedback loop with no costs, which can quickly kill any sized crowd, without using any activated talents at all if you have Hymn of Moonlight up.
Against a dozen or so brittle clear oozes, I got 7 lightning casts in one round, including 5 crits (though some could have been from hymn of Moonlight)
Re: Favorite game breakers
Got a pretty nice summoner one.
Hydra (Grand Entrance) + Fire Drake (Grand Entrance) (+ Whoever Else) + Resource Leech
The hydra's poison cloud counts as damage from you, so it triggers resource leech. The DoT is fairly piddly, but each target it hits, including your own summons, gives a leech chance. Fire Drake's Grand Entrance calls up three hatchlings, so in two turns you have five summons on the field and getting leeched, on top of whatever enemies you catch in the cloud. I had a pretty good leech weapon (30% for 10) and it basically negates equilibrium costs while the poison's up, but I expect even with a weaker leech it could at least heavily mitigate them.

Something interesting I found while meddling with the .lua files: Undeath link works with that aegis skill that grants you a shield for every healing effect you receive... hmm...
(granted, this is not in the standard game, and at least early on it's not too gamebreaking, as you get a tiny shield)

Re: Favorite game breakers
Sorry if anyone pointed it out already, but I'm not really sure how to search for it.
You can wear stat changing items or put stat points into a stat, get a talent/wear something with stat requirements, then remove the stat changing item/substract the stat points. The item/talent will stay.
I'm pretty sure it's a bug.

This works very well with curses as well (if you have invested in the tree).magikmw wrote:Sorry if anyone pointed it out already, but I'm not really sure how to search for it.

Did that first char perhaps had any inherint speed altering effects, such as the yeek talents?lukep wrote:Tried it again with a new char, and the attacking part doesn't work... which is odd, as I got about 80% success with one character in a stretch. Re: Favorite game breakers
Don't think I remembered seeing this here, but I remembered the thread and was going to comment on exactly this kind of combination. Playing Shalore Anathoril and wearing the Eelskin, with Hymn of Moonlight and Corona and both my racial and class spell crit boosting talents maxed. Hard to keep enough Negative energy to keep things going. I basically just have to walk through a room and everything dies.lukep wrote:See a few posts up for details.lukep wrote:Corona + talent on hit (spell) + High crit rate:

Marauder Garkul set, or even only helmet. With maxed scullcracker it do ~1200 dmg which works on most bosses(though some immune) and do 8 confusion. Works even on sorcerers!. It's was my opening move in any boss fight.
Another - weapon with damage projection (forgot how talent is called). It has huge range, damage multiplier and if player has poison talent it carry poison too. It also seems ignore defence.
