b34, Negative life leech

#1 Post by bricks »

Seems like any effect which allows enemy health to go negative causes life leech (via Bloodcaller while fighting a frenzied Dredge Captain, in this case) to injure the user.
Sorry about all the parentheses (sometimes I like to clarify things).

I'm pondering considering it a bug or not .. :)

Seems a bit wrong... it's not like the enemy actually has negative health (what does that even mean?) - the frenzy effects and such are more a way of gripping on to life a little longer. Life leech should be zero in this case.

I could see it as making sense when interacting with Blurred Mortality, though (they're saturated with unlife and standing on the cusp of life and death, so you accidentally drain their death instead of their life.)

However, I think it's mostly just annoying (other games do things like that when you try and drain undead; ToME doesn't, which I think is a good choice. Especially with equipment -- who wants to have to constantly change their equipment for specific opponents? The inventory system is too clunky for that.)
