game not starting up properly

I have this strange issue since b33 I think:
Every other time I start up Tome, The game will start by prompting me if I want to keep the new resolution (it does this every startup), and then hang at a black screen (not displaying the intro art). I have to kill tome main menu via the task manager.
Next time I start, it will work fine. Next time after that, I will have the black screen. Next restart, game will start up fine, etc.
