This tree doesn't use hate so it shouldn't grant it either. Cursed Sentry is the only talent with a cost. It costs the item that gets animated. Some people don't like that idea, but I didn't want the tree to require the hate resource. It probably shouldn't have willpower requirements either as it limits the tree's use.
As far suiciding a character, I don't think its worth that. You can offset the penalty with a point in Dark Gifts or add more for extra benefit. If you can get Cursed Sentry, its pretty helpful.
That said, after revamping the Cursed class and playing with it a bit I think that Fateful Aura does need to be changed. It has a few problems:
1) It's too random.
2) It is not thematically interesting enough.
3) It replaces talents but it doesn't feel as useful and directed as most talents. It should be worth investing and help in developing a character.
To that end I'm thinking about changing it. Instead acting like random egos, curses would act like a handful of sustained talents. If you equip 3 items with a "Curse of Corpses" curse you get a level 3 "Curse of Corpses" sustained effect. The effects would be heavily themed with a variety of effects. There might be a total of 4 or 5 curses. For example:
Curse of Corpses: An aura of death surronds you.
Level 1: Fear of death; Recieve (Level * 2)% more damage from undead.
Level 2: +(2 + 1*Level) Strength, -(Level) Luck
Level 3: Corpselight: Each death you bring leaves an eerie glow in its wake (light radius 4).
Level 4: Physical resistance: +(Level)%, Arcane resistance: -(Level)%
Level 5: Raise the dead: Your victims sometimes rise to fight beside you (duration 10 turns). (Killed Humanoids become Ghouls)
I may post ideas for feedback when I've got more...

Re: b34 Cursed! What happened?
Well, I count every generic and class talent before starting a new build. I do not remember what class I was playing then, probably a wyrmic, but as I was running antimagic (as usual), my generics were in shortage and I didnt want to spend a single talent out of my plan. So, in my view, that char was tainted, and I disliked him immediately. Not that would change anything, my chars usually die very fast in the East anyway.
I'm sorry if my post upset some of you, I'll think twice before writing next time. English isn't my main language and I probably did not help this thread.

Re: b34 Cursed! What happened?
you guys do realize if you get cursed you can just go to your character sheet and take the point out of it, completely negating the effects, right?
Re: b34 Cursed! What happened?
Haha, no never thought about that. Not that I regret not having thought about it though, I'm fine with the curse. So this basically means doing Celia's dungeon is a possible extra generic. Or more, if it's possible to get cursed more than once. I wonder if that was intended or just a side-effect of adding talent points buybacks.
Re: b34 Cursed! What happened?
I think it's safe to say that was not intended.
Re: b34 Cursed! What happened?
The one that got me was the ability to skip Unnatural Body until you have the generics to max it. Sort of kills some o the flavor of "I have these horrible dark magics afflicting me."
