Right now, the reward for the Lumberjack Village quest is ridiculously minor -- ~20 gold doesn't hurt, I suppose, but you can get nearly that much by randomly finding a stack of bolts on the ground (which is itself a different issue, but it's still just not that much anymore.) It's also just kinda boring.
I think there should be some other, more unique sort of reward. It doesn't have to be a major one, but something. Perhaps the Lumberjack Village could become a low-level town with a number of shops based on the number of Lumberjacks you save.

Re: Improve the Lumberjack Village quest.
How about if they offer you one magic item (green, blue or purple), from a list as long as the survivors? That way, by saving 20 lumberjacks gives you a very good chance of getting a usable item (choose the best of 20), while saving 5 would be much more of a gamble (choose the best of 5).

I think the Cursed class was added back when 20 gold was still a lot. But yeah, I'd love to get a digger instead of the 20 gold....
Re: Improve the Lumberjack Village quest.
Value-wise, I thought 20g was fine. It's more than I'd expect to get killing a boss of that level and selling the crud that dropped. I agree that the idea of giving a pick, axe or light makes more sense thematically and is more useful though.

Bosses drop artifacts, though, which have at least a chance of being something unique and valuable which you'll want to keep around for a while (and possibly the whole game -- just about any boss could drop the Blood of Life or the Burning Star.)Aoi wrote:Value-wise, I thought 20g was fine. Plus, yeah, all else aside, it's more fun that way.
