Or at least against Vaporize.
My level 19 archer (slinger) was fighting a random boss at Fortress and used silence (antimagic skill). Both him and the NPC were silenced, as usual, then next turn the boss used vaporize, doing 434 arcane damage and kiling him. That was way too much damage at that level, even if my slinger was using 2 + life items, his total HP was about 540.

Doomed talents aren't 'spells'. They're more of a blend between psi and arcane but don't get many of the benefits pure casters get (no increased damage from spellpower items for instance).
So yeah, I'm not sure if the exclusion from being 'spells' was intentional or not but they seem to be their own niche thing.
Vaporize on the other hand is pretty powerful in the hands of an NPC

Not entirely sure this is unintended, but it could probably stand looking at. Technically, most doomed talents aren't arcane and, surprisingly, doomed can get antimagic. The only trees they have that are arcane is shades and darkness -- primal magic is not, apparently, arcane.
So silence would shut down the shades and darkness talents, but not primal magic. This may or may not be oversight, would have to see what benli says about it.

I just double checked and frumple's right. I didn't read far enough along and missed that those two trees are in fact 'spells'. Probably a bug then that primal magic isn't spellcasting if it scales off the magic stat.Frumple wrote:Not entirely sure this is unintended, but it could probably stand looking at. Well, in my opinion, If the NPC is a caster, its magic skills must be canceled by silence, otherwise my investment in antimagic is wasted. If the skill in question can remove 80% of my hit points (broken in my view), thats even more of a problem.
