Noob, ToME4 install on a mac, how???

Ive tried searching but to no avail.
been looking at this game for some time now but cant figure out how to get it running on my mac OSX 10.5.8
i have downloaded that latest available for mac "ToME and T-Engine 4 1.0.0 Beta 31 aka "Slime of Death"" but when i try to open it, it says "you could not use this version of T-Engine with this version of Mac OSX"

could someone please point me in the direction to get it working for my mac

i also have a mac OSX 10.6something something that i havent tried it on...but would that help? but would prefer to use this comp.

If you scroll down a little bit in General Discussion, there's on ongoing thread entitled "Compiling ToME Under Mac OSX" that gives instructions on how to download and build from SVN (rather than te4.org's download page, which I think only works on 10.6). Have you tried that?

Up to b31 works fine on my 10.5 machine using the instructions there, though it seems like not everyone has managed to get it working perfectly.
