Favorite Race
Even though we have the statistics of what people actually play up on te4.org, that doesn't necessarily mean that that is what you like to play, or what your favorite race or class is.
So, I ask you, what is your favorite race, and why? Do you think it is just more fun to play? Does it compliment your style better than the others? The lore of the race intrigues you? What about this race that appeals so much to you, over the others?
As we now have racial talents for most all the races, and we have quiet a selection of races, I think that this would be an interesting question to ask. :)

Gotta be skeletons for me. All of their abilities are really useful, and they get an interesting start to the game.
Ghouls are great too, especially with Retch.

Re: Favorite Race
Dwarves for me. Money = saves = awesome.
Re: Favorite Race
Yeeks. They make amazing casters (esp. Doomed and Summoners) with +global speed, summons, and Dominant Will. Also, their -150 HP over 50 levels is negligible compared to having all four racial skills being useful.
Re: Favorite Race
Yeeks...
Speed, speed, speed.
Unlike luke, I only find 3 of the racial skills useful, but they are very useful!

Re: Favorite Race
I like the halflings..
And dwarfs... But to be fair I haven't unlocked the undead.

Re: Favorite Race
I like Cornac humans the best (love having an extra category point at the start), though I enjoy the occasional Higher (especially with classes that pump Will), and two of the three characters I ever got to level 50 with were halfling slingers (I love crits).
Re: Favorite Race
GHOULS.
Sure, the speed thing sucks. Sure, they are effectively down a slot due to the cloak. Sure, some of their racial abilities are suspect. Sure, they can't use infusions. Also, they level a little slowly.
But they do get good hp, retch no longer sucks, and they are GHOULS.
Combine leap and gnaw into a single useful skill, and give them a skill to get temp speed boost...

Re: Favorite Race
Shalore if class have use for some considerable dexterity. Great speed boost(a lot better than Blinding Speed with Dex high enough).Timeless is even better - like Providence+positive effect boost. Secrets of Eternal is not hurt either - it has very low chance to trigger, but once time per game it may save you. Magic of Eternal is not of much use though - too low return on investment. Strength penalty is acceptable (especially after transmogrifing chest was introduced) and Const penalty is sufferable.

Re: Favorite Race
I voted ghouls because I love the flavor and find their crippling disadvantages interesting to build characters around. Which is to say, I almost always play ghouls as super durable casters rather than as warriors. Because they can't heal themselves anyway.
Re: Favorite Race
Ghouls can heal by using Retch, actually. At high talent levels, it's quite good in fact.
Re: Favorite Race
I'm all over the place here, but I'm going to say dwarves. Their penalties to leveling and stats are only minor annoyances; their innately high health and great defensive racial skills make them great for my playstyle. Plus, Escape from Reknor is a fun starting mission, and quick if you are lucky.
Sorry about all the parentheses (sometimes I like to clarify things).
Re: Favorite Race
Probably Thalore. They've got all of one really useful racial skill and a middlingly decent one, but treants (the good skill) are sexy as can be they give anyone wood and for will pumping classes the damage/defense boost gets pretty solid by th'late game. Stats are just fairly solid and jive well with classes that need some will, which I play fairly often.
Dwarves come in second, mostly because I don't really like their starting area (escort quest *fist shake*). Still, $$$ to saves...
I'm warming up to skeletons again, though. They were definitely my fav before infusions got nixed on 'em. Bone shield and reassemble give 'em some pretty solid racials now. Still have tried th'nuGhoul.
Waiting for golems. Those haven't been made a player race yet, right?
Theme wise, though, halflings all the way. Militant slaver midgets is go.
