Having satellite internet is a lot like relying on the processes described in those RFC's for your internet. Except, instead of needing to worry about statues interrupting your connection, this time you worry about the weather. I have satellite internet. Fun, no?

Hi

After a lot of discussion amongst the mods we have decided to appoint Final Master (his fault for complaining about the Spam  ) and Grey as the new moderators.

Thank you both for being willing to stand up and help keep the forum clean, friendly and fun!

There will be a short period of vague instruction and then on to the final step in our clean up...
Regards

Jon.

I have now taken the last step in my plan and have activated the newly registered user group.

New accounts are automatically added to this group and have to go through a process of having posts approved by a moderator. The posts will not appear until they are approved, but you may see a place-holder if it is a reply to a thread.

Hopefully this will trap the spammers and allow us to remove them without their spam being seen.
Regards

Jon.

I forgot to add that you may see a madmonk_test account logged in from time to time...

That will be me testing things!

Impressed you've taken steps to rectify the problem, let's see how it works out, thanks to all concerned for their willingness to help fix this problem.

Thanks, but I am still not sure we have fixed it...

Only time will tell.

I don't like it actually :( Don't suppose I could be grey instead? ;)

Edit: In fact I don't like standing out colour-wise at all. I only want to help with the spam problem, I don't care about any moderator hat. We're all mature enough here that real moderation is quite unnecessary.

Might it instead be possible to rename Grey to Green? Would be more fitting for his present post and would help differentiate between Grey and greycat.

Regretfully in order to allow you to fight the spam I have to join you to the moderators group. At which point a change in colour is also part of the deal!

He could still be in Moderator group but have e.g. Registered User as default group, which defines the color. But I agree green looks way better!

I believe that color is customizable, but I think they name will still be bold in which case it'll still stand out.
