Re: Dumb questions thread
what do ambushes depend on? my lvl 9 character just met a 35 lvl dragon near old forest, did everything he could but was constricted to death ;; i have never seen something so threatening before with quite more powerful characters (not so powerful though, my best was like 16-18 lvl).

A few questions:
Is there a way to see your progress towards the unlocks that are cumulative across characters?
Do you get benefits to equipping a secondary weapon even if you don't wield/use that weapon (e.g. defense bonuses)
Is your escort in an escort quest supposed to damage you (e.g. with beam attacks).

Re: Dumb questions thread
yes. press '?', choose 'show achievements', choose 'everything', find your progressing unlock and it will show you its progress. btw it seems it counts your progress for one computer only i.e. your progress on different computers doesn't sum up.bio_hazard wrote:A few questions:

Re: Dumb questions thread
You don't get bonuses for weapons in your swap slot, (accessed through x) and escorts ideally shouldn't hit you with beam attacks, but some do.

Re: Dumb questions thread
Question about weapon damage. When you view expected damage through the character screen, does this include damage from brands? I'm trying to figure out how a quicksteel waraxe of ruin gives the same damage as an elemental steel mace that has 31pts of elemental damage.
If it is too complicated for the dumb question thread, maybe just give me a pointer to a spoiler for how damage is calculated. Already looked on the wiki but the info about damage is pretty vague.

Re: Dumb questions thread
Would probably be better to ask if it shows expected damage per game turn - "quick" weapons can probably make a "damage: blah" statement worthless, especially with certain spells which alter global and/or attack speed. But keep in mind that elemental weapons also have limited crowd control on their brand, while quick weapons of ruin do not.

Re: Dumb questions thread
By crowd control- do you mean freezing?
"quick" shows up in the attack speed, right. So is 90% vs. 100% a big deal?
Another question about critical % (maybe a bug, or I'm really not understanding this or how much Cunning affects crit %). If I'm wielding the mace, under the attack tab under character it shows 11% crit. by my count I'm wearing more than 11% of bonuses for this.
mace: 1%
lantern: 4%
armor 11%
gauntlets 6%
When I wield the axe, my character shows 20% crit:
axe: 4% (+4 cunning)
lantern: 4%
armor 11%
gauntlets 6%

Re: Dumb questions thread
Heh. Yes, freezing - this is the general discussion forum, didn't want to be too spoily. Quick weapons: At a 10% speed increase, this means you're in essence getting a free attack in the time it takes you to make ten attacks with a normal weapon. There are spells which can increase this speed more; these spells do not downgrade the weapon: You're attacking with the same weapon at a faster rate, so with a 30% increase as I understand it, in the time it takes to make 10 attacks at normal speed you've made 13.bio_hazard wrote:By crowd control- do you mean freezing?

And I'm almost completely certain that any formula about physical crit chance (or crit chance, or spell crit chance *coughs*) would be spoily in the extreme.

Fair enough- I'll post elsewhere. Thanks for your help.Hedrachi wrote:Heh. Yes, freezing - this is the general discussion forum, didn't want to be too spoily. Re: Dumb questions thread
How do I go to the east? I was ambushed, then went to that secret city, then to Tempest Peak, where I killed the boss and the mini bosses (Part of ...) There were no portals, no stairs (except to the first level), I searched EVERTYTHING. After some 30min, I just used the rod of recall and went back to the secret city in the west.
Is there something wrong? Is this a bug or I'm not searching right?
Thanks in advance!

Re: Dumb questions thread
Go chat with the officials in Last Hope - they'll point you in the right direction.
Re: Dumb questions thread
This is correct -- you must use the Rod of Recall to escape from Tempest Peak. When the Rod was first introduced into the game, Urkis the Tempest used to be the one who dropped it -- the Rod was your reward for doing this quest. Now that the Rod drops from whatever boss you first kill, the Tempest Peak quest has lost a lot of its urgency.f0rbidden wrote:went to that secret city, then to Tempest Peak, where I killed the boss and the mini bosses (Part of ...) The Tempest Peak has absolutely nothing to do with going East.
Re: Dumb questions thread
Thanks everyone for your answers. I've made my way to the east.
Re: Dumb questions thread
it seems, sometimes wild infusions cannot remove bad effects they should be able to cure. once my infusion couldn't remove poison and another time - pinning (it was able to remove physical effects). what does it depend on?
