All other daggers have their damage based on Dex/Str, but Moon, Star, the Silent Blade and the Unerring Scalpel are coded as Dex/Cun. Obviously for rogues it makes no differences, but for other classes it can be quite different indeed. Orc Feller is correctly coded as Dex/Str.
Whilst on the subject of artifact knives, the unided description for the Silent Blade should probably be changed to "black-bladed dagger".

Re: Artifact knives rely on Cun not Str
I made Moon and Star specifically function off of dex/cun so that they could be used for a wider range of classes. In particular, I wanted anorthils to have a decent reason to use them, and the cunning scale is also not bad for summoners.
As for the others, maybe they just c&p'd from moon/star?

Well, I think the Silent Blade existed before Moon and Star, and in a way it kinda makes sense for it to be more cunning-based.
I mostly wanted Moon and Star to have more strength base as a second weapon for my arcane blades ;) I don't think either summoners or anorithils care about what damage base they use, since they don't get involved in melee.

At the very least, with as early as you can get them, I wanted a range of classes to have the option to use them. I've popped Moon and Star on a summoner at ~15 once or twice and with a turtle and war hound by my side I was able to justify being in melee.
I don't think many people give 'going against the grain' a chance in t4. ABs using staves to attack with I've had great success with in testing. Summoners, under proper conditions can be perfectly viable in melee [read above], and anorthil don't have to have a staff to be awesome.

I have a lot more CUN than STR.

Rogues have Lethality, which replaces the strength reliance of daggers with Cun.

Completely forgot that one .
Re: Artifact knives rely on Cun not Str
But this actually makes them less useful to Fighters, Arcane Blades, Sun Paladins, Wyrmics, and Temporal Wardens. Classes that tend to be in melee more then Anorithil and Summoners.Final Master wrote:I made Moon and Star specifically function off of dex/cun so that they could be used for a wider range of classes. Agreed. Whilst it's nice to give the casters options to melee, there are many reasons why few (if anyone) takes up the idea.

agreed, done
