Oh my! It seems there was an error!
The game might still work but this is suspect, please type in your current situation and click on "Send" to send an error report to the game creator.
If you are not currently connected to the internet, please report this bug when you can on the forums at http://forums.t4.org/

If you already reported that error, you do not have to do it again (unless you feel the situation is different).

Savefile location

#182 Post by Omaw »

Ok, after searching the forums, I found several suggestions for where the savefiles are kept, including this thread. I can't find them, can someone who knows where they are in the current version left me know?

What I am actually trying to do is some careful editing of character specific keybinds, so if you know how I can get my dirty fingers into those, that would be nice... Also would still like the save file locations. :P

Thank you in advance.

I found similar advice in other posts, my directory structure doesn't seem to follow that layout, maybe if I provide some clarity on what I am working with:

Windows 7 32bit
downloaded the newest te4 executable for the install (b28)

There are no sub-directories in my tome or te4 directories that are called "saves" nor "profiles" nor "character dumps" and also, there is no engine/4.0/tome (which everyone seems to be talking about)

closest I can find is
/game/modules/tome
or
/engine/default/engine

(please note there is no /4.0 or /tome directory under either of those)

I'm not at home right now, so I can't check, but are you sure you're starting in the right place? There's a folder that is created which contains the .exe for the game, and then there is a seperate folder in your Program Files which contains (I believe) what you are looking for.

Forgive me if you're already looking in both, that was just the confusion I had when I was trying to find things.

Garumush,

I don't see anything in my program files directory, what would it be called? I don't see anything in /program files or /programfilesX86 that jumps out at me.

Thanks for the help :)

It should be in C:/Documents and Settings/<user name>/T-Engine/4.0/tome

Anyone have any ideas about why the T-Engine 4 main menu won't load without crashing on Windows Vista 32? I'm using the b28 build. If I try to run the application a window opens, music plays, and then the window crashes. It says "T-Engine 4 - Main Menu".

I have Windows Vista 64bit, and the b28 build of the game (without music - the files simply aren't there). When I first started the program, I had the exact same problem - the window stayed dark and there was only the cursor in the upper left corner of the screen. When clicking on the window, vista stated that the program wasn't responding. Turns out, though, the game simply needs a LOT of time on first startup to initialize something - switch to another application, like your browser, and do something else for a few minutes, then something should be happening on your screen when you switch back. However, it will now lag like a motherf*****. simply (force-)quit and restart, the game should now be running at a reasonable speed. You might also want to turn down your screen resolution when first attempting to start the game, as the game will assume your current resolution as its screen resolution. Full-screen does NOT work under vista - it will always start the game in a window, no matter what you do. As soon as the game runs without lagging, change the game screen resolution to something reasonable, like 800x600, which will run fine in a window. The window will not automatically resize, though - restart the game, and it should do it, although a small portion of the game's screen will be cutoff at the bottom and on the left; it doesn't affect gameplay, though. Hope that helps.

I have a little graphical glitch on my game though, which I can't seem to fix through the given video options: almost all ingame text has some slight diagonal lines through it which cause minor graphical distortion - you can't exactly see "lines", it's more like some of the pixels get moved to the right a bit, in the form of diagonal lines. I think it has something to do with my graphics card, or the openGL driver, and it doesn't affect gameplay (I'm still able to read what it says just fine) but it's really bugging me, so does anyone know what might cause that or how to fix it? If my explanation wasn't clear enough, I can post a screenshot if that helps - let me know.

Thank you very much.

No luck, I'm afraid :(

I tried taking the music out, but that still didn't work.

Shandy,

Sorry if you tried this already, but have you tried running in compatibility mode? try disabling different levels of things, running as winxp and so forth...

Where do you get the Transmogrification Chest, and how far in the game do you usually get it.

I've seen people on the forums talking about it, and it sounds useful, but I haven't been able to find much of anything in the documentation about it.

The chest is a reward when you get your own fortress, look in old places, you'll get hints
[tome] joylove: You can't just release an expansion like one would release a Kraken XD
