Exploring Character Level requirements for Areas/Zones

#1 Post by shaf »

Since I've almost completed the Alchemy Ingredient List I thought to start on the Character Level requirements for Zones and associated Lore in the journal.
For Clarification it is the suggested minimum Character Level in order to successfully complete the Zone/area.
Starting race is Human, Starting classes Fighter and Thief.

Class Human
Dungeon Areas
(W) Trollmire (Human Start Dungeon 1) (Lore 1 to 5)
(W) Scintillating Caves (2) (Shaloren Start Dungeon) (Lore 6 to 10) (Non-Shaloren Complete at Level 8+)
(W) Ruins of kor'pul (3) (Lore 11 to 15) (Complete at Level 10+)
(W) The Maze (Lore 16 to 20) (Complete at Level 12+)
(W) Old Forest (Lore 29 to 33) (Complete at Level 12+)
(W) Arena Unlock in Derth (Complete at Level 12+)
(W) Sandworm Lair (Lore 35 to )
(W) Rhaloren Camp (Lore 42 to 47) (Complete at Level 12+)
(W) Nargos Lair ( Thaloren Start Dungeon) (Non-Thaloren Complete at Level 8+)
(W) Golem Graveyard (Complete at Level 16+)
(W) Old Halfling Ruins (Complete at Level 10+)
(W) Ancient Elven Ruins
(W) Heart of the Gloom (Lore 160) (Complete at level 8+)
(W) Daikara
(W) Spellblaze
(W) Hidden Compound (complete at Level 12+)
(W) Ruined Dungeon (Lore 48 to ) (Complete at Level 12+)
(W) Old Tower of Dreadfell
(E) Orc Pride
(E) Ritch Tunnel
(E) Spider Lair
(E) Temple of Creation
Class Thaloren
Dungeon Areas
(W) Nargos Lair (Thaloren Start Dungeon)
(W) Heart of the Gloom (Lore 160)

What do you mean by level requirements? You have Norgos and Scintillating Caves listed as level 8, yet they're frequently my first foray.

Grey,
Does the Clarification help?
My order of Areas are based on playing in Adventurer (Normal) mode. So normally I'll do the following:
Trollmere Lvl 1
Get First Alchemy Quest at Derth
Complete Trollmere and if strong enough (Lvl 6) do Lvl 4 of Trollmere
Get Second Alchemy quest at
Get 3rd Alchemy Quest at Lost Hope
Get 4th Alchemy Quest from Hermit
Scintillating Caves
Norgos
Kor'Pul
Mage Quest
Heart of the Gloom
Old Forest
The Maze
Rhaloren Camp

*coughs* Different races have different start dungeons. Shaloren start in Scint caves, Thaloren in Norgos, Dwarves in introRek, etc.
Having satellite internet is a lot like relying on the processes described in those RFC's for your internet. Except, instead of needing to worry about statues interrupting your connection, this time you worry about the weather. I have satellite internet. Fun, no?

Scintillating Caves and Norgos' Lair are both level 1 dungeons. I'd say they're easier than Trollmire overall.

I'd say Norgos is easily easier than Trollmire, but Scintillating Caves is easier only if you've got ranged attacks.

If I had to throw out some recommended levels for exploring the Western dungeons, I would say

1 Trollmire
1 Scintillating Caves
1 Norgos Lair
5 Ruins of kor'pul
5 Rhaloren Camp
5 Heart of the Gloom
10 Old Halfling Ruins
10 Old Forest
12 The Maze
14 Sandworm Lair
15 Golem Graveyard
15 Ruined Dungeon
15 Hidden Compound
16 Daikara
20 Rift
20 Ancient Elven Ruins
20 Old Tower of Dreadfell
25 Mark of the Spellblaze
25 Reknor

Incidentally, I think showing recommended levels in-game for all of the dungeons is an excellent idea.

If you are going to create a list of places to go with a recommended order there are a number of things to consider:

1) Race
Each race will have a starting dungeon or two... which will then affect where you come in

2) Class
Some classes will find certain dungeons tougher than other classes...

3) Difficulty
I have never played adventurer mode so this is a little more uncertain, but will difficulty affect the order of dungeons you play? Seems to me it would.

Jon.

Thanks for the Chart, I think the Minimum Levels are only valid Pre-Event. There's no way a level 1 character can complete Dearth once the Elementals have Taken over.

But that is the Tempest Peak Quest levels 15 - 22...
