Well you don't need all those sustains! Certainly don't need both Arcane Shield and Shielding for instance - either work fine on their own. Premonition isn't worth it for Archmages in my opinion, as you want the mana power to blast things to bits instead. Arcane Power quickly outlives its usefulness. Probability Travel is more a late game thing, as are infernos.
Archmages do have a lot of sustains and high power talents, but one of the keys to the class is learning to handle your resources effectively. If you really want to invest in the high power stuff a lot then you'll need to pump a lot of points into Willpower.

willpower... now there is something I never do on an archmage.
What is the willpower to max mana conversion rate?

Re: Aegis Tree
I believe it is 5 per point.
Re: Aegis Tree
Yeah, 5 per point, which is very high. It's definitely worth investing in willpower if you want to use a lot of sustains. Also worth keeping your fatigue to a minimum.

Archmage can easily do nasty damage with crit... if it aint mag/wp/con, you could do mag/cun/con. Be surprised if you made it outta Dreadfell with mag/cun/con archie though.
