Re: Yeek
You can recall out from the entrance, bringing you to Eyal. If you don't want to do that I would recommend a Summoner, and place a Turtle (or Jelly) in between them. I ended up beating Z with a Yeek Doomed by finding a lucky Movement Infusion, then keeping him far enough away with Force of Will and other skills.
Re: Yeek
Part of the issue is that the room is lit - thus we see the two of them before we're close enough to do anything.darkgod wrote:???
The two do not (at least should not) start battling before you arrive.
Well before you see them, so I suppose if you use telepathy or detection it'll trigger
Subject Z will occasionaly 2 shot the wayist. (technicaly more than 2 shots, but 2 steps on the map let's say)
My solution has been to dig north when I get to that room.
Then come in via the door. Problem solved.
Re: Yeek
I think Subject Z's melee attack needs nerfed. He just did 170 damage a round against the Wayist, making my attempt to save him rather pathetic :( Non-ranged chars don't stand a chance of even surviving when he's as strong as that.
It seems like he gets equipped with two weapons, and often they end up having very strong melee_project egos. It would be better if instead he acted like a ranged doomed char, with a preference to avoid melee and use summoned shadows.
Of course I also support the ideas of buffing the Wayist a bit (give him some damage resistance at least) and placing the stairs right next to the fight.

Re: Yeek
But he's meant to be a Shadowblade. If anything, I would say make them start further a part and maybe put a limit on quality of egos on Z's weapons. If the limitation aspect is not wanted, then I would support giving the yeek decent levels in the yeek racials instead.

Re: Yeek
He's a ShadowBlade/Doomed hybrid. The big problem is he's so overpowered on the shadowblade side. Controlling his egos would certainly help plenty, but his general damage should be decreased too. Personally I'd prefer if he were simply a Doomed - could make for a more interesting fight, and it also fits with his lore background.
Re: Yeek
i should say thanks for the idea, i unlocked yeeks using it (two previous archmage tries (without freeze) failed, i killed subject z after he killed wayis only) and unlocked mindslayers then.aztec wrote:I ended up over-leveling an Archmage with 3 Ice skills to keep him constantly frozen and killing him
also what if i just had used rod of recall before seeing subject z & wayist? would i have been teleported to the maj'eyal map? could i have saved wayist later or subject z would have killed him anyway?
Re: Yeek
IIRC, if you're a Yeek and use the recall wand before putting the two of them in line of sight, you get sent back to your island.kyuubee wrote:i should say thanks for the idea, i unlocked yeeks using it (two previous archmage tries (without freeze) failed, i killed subject z after he killed wayis only) and unlocked mindslayers then.aztec wrote:I ended up over-leveling an Archmage with 3 Ice skills to keep him constantly frozen and killing him

If you're not a yeek, you get sent back to Maj'Eyal proper.
In either case, Z's probably going to be powerful enough to kill the Wayist before you can get him in LOS again, the non-yeek especially so: Z will "reactivate" immediately when you re-enter the level, and the non-yeek will need to march all the way back to that big room again. Keep in mind that Z is a boss, and after the Wayist is dead he will always walk towards your current position so long as you're on the level.
Re: Yeek
My strategy was to play as an archmage (seems to be a common choice) and put as many points into phase door and teleport as possible (apart from 1 point in Heal). As soon as I entered the level, I hit teleport, and landed close enough to Subject Z and the Wayist to phase-door the Wayist out of the way.
All seemed to be going well until Subject Z killed me twice, both times within three turns. The final time, he went into the bizarre "I need to run away now!" tactic and the Wayist and I were easily able to take him out at range.
Subject Z definitely needs to be changed for that encounter. I'm not sure whether it's the fact that he's not scaling right for that level, the inherent squishiness of yeeks, or the ridiculous combination of abilities that he has, but I can't imagine ever beating Subject Z, much less saving the Wayist, weren't it for that AI bug.

Sorry about all the parentheses (sometimes I like to clarify things).
Re: Yeek
Beat him with a lucky Doomed a few betas ago. The knockback was extremely useful, in combination with a shadow distracting him.

Re: Yeek
The yeeks don't actually have a town yet even though there is a designated spot on the map for it.
