The Temple of Creation

Exploring a bit the east world i ran into an aquatic cave, as i always had my amulet of the fish, i decided to explore it.

In the end of it i met a dragon with some silly name i can't even remember that gave me a quest, killing his naga enemy in the Temple of Creation.

So i went there, and after lots of saves reloading :) due to my level 46 berserker and his 1600+ health being often killed to my own surprise in one or two turn nearly every 5 minutes from out of sight gangs of nagas, i finally managed to get to the last room.

Last room that had plenty of naga and the target of the quest, Slasul.

Slasul ran to me while i was backing the hell out of that death trap and went around a corner (remembering what a naga gang can do in 1 or 2 turn) and instead of fighting, he explained me that the dragon was the bad guy and lied to me.

Nice, an alternate branch for the ending of that quest.
So instead of trying to kill Slasul, i accepted to get back to the dragon and ask him about his lies.

Slasul created a portal and told me to step in it to get back to the dragon.

That sounded nice, but ...
He created the portal back into the room, while a few seconds walk is not a problem, what was a real one is that the bunch of naga that were following Slasul and me were always hostile to me, and they were shooting through like crazy.

And Slasul while apparently not hostile was always running into me, triggering the dialogue again and again and ...
dialogue in which my only 2 choices were "attack" or "Farewell Slasul".

I had fortunately a save from before entering the room, but this problem always happen, there is no way for me to reach the portal Slasul opened without killing both Slasul and the bunch of Nagas following him.

I guess that's not supposed to happen like this and is very likely a bug, but is there a solution that would not screw up the quest in any ways ?

I ran into this bug. The last level of the temple is a loop, so try using a speed or teleport ability to gain some distance on him, and then circling back to the portal.

Thanks, i tried just that now, helped with a teleportation and controlled phase door i found earlier that helped me to prevent that Slasul dialogue to pop up at every turn he run into me.

Then i managed to teleport in the main room after the portal is created without killing Slasul and his naga (thanks a bunch to the controlled phase door), and got back to the dragon.

After killing the now angry dragon (sure much easier than dealing with the nagas), i went back to the room, survived enough for Slasul to come to me without having to kill any of the hostile nagas, and trigger again the dialogue with "Attack" or "Farewell" , nothing more to acknowledge he's now out of the dragon danger.

Same as if i kill Slasul, and get back to the dragon (the portal is created in the room even if you don't discuss with Slasul until he open a portal) , the Dragon has nothing more to say than the same kind of dialogue and does not acknowledge that i killed his enemy.

A bit disapointing for the resolution of the quest to only have the log updated but none of the character having anything to say about it.

To solve that quest and move on, i decided to keep side with the dragon and kill Slasul, as the dragon has absolutely no item of value, while Slasul has a few of them that i can store in my personal fortress storage.

And apparently from a note i found on Slasul, the dragon seemed to have been in the right.

Just did that.
Questlog says I betrayed them both.

When I killed the dragon, the pop up said I killed him during his own quest.
Somehow I feel I made a mistake.
Did I?

Killing Slasul is a must, because he gives one of the best loot in the game. Killing dragon is irrelevant. But dragon was a good guy, so you are justified to feel regret (if you want that is :) )

If you spare Slasul and kill the dragon, there is a prodigy you can obtain. If you get the prodigy, then you get an extra option when talking to Slasul. If you accept his deal, you get an extra reward that is awesome, too bad my character couldn't use it :(

Also, this may be a bug: the prodigy gives the ability to breath in water and 5 levels in exotic weapon mastery... from which you can unlearn some levels and use the generic points somewhere else. Not sure if this is intended.

Huh. And here I thought that was a pretty useless prodigy. 5 generic points though? There's a few builds that could sure use that!

Just remember, you can only un-learn 3 of them.. And there is some bug that locks generic points in some conditions, preventing one to abuse this altogether.

The reward IS an awesome weapon for berserkers and 2h wyrmics, though - and you can save 5 points on weapons mastery if you know you'll gonna get this one.

The water breathing thing does seem pretty useless by that point -- there are no more major areas you need to explore that require water breathing. But I certainly wouldn't mind a few extra generic points sometimes. Probably a waste of a prodigy just for 3 points, though.

Oh believe me that weapon is worth the prodigy. Well, probably not for cursed as the talent procs on it mess with rampage, but for Wyrmics with dissolve...You have to see it to believe it.

As luck would have it, I'm actually playing a Wyrmic right now (still trying to get a hang of that antimagic thing, but am not certain I have enough generics to spare to do it with this character, so the extra generics + an awesome weapon might be just the key.) I'll miss the fun of killing both monsters in an orgy of treachery and villainous murder, but I suppose I can forgo the pleasure just once. :)

is there anything stopping you from killing him after he hands you that nifty little weapon of his?

Yes. He becomes unkillable. Just straight up invincible, nothing you can do about it.

I think thematics-wise it's less that he becomes invincible and more that you killing him would kill you, so you can't/won't do that and hence you do 0 damage to him.

I'm sorta glad that DarkGod just made him invincible instead of making him kill you if you killed him, though. We'd have gotten "bug" reports already. :wink:
