[v1.0.1] Old RPG Tileset & Darkwood UI
Hello everyone! I've been working on this tileset for a long time, and it's almost complete. For now, you can download a 95% complete tileset, plus a complimentary UI (Darkwood), plus enhanced talent/status icons.
http://te4.org/sites/default/files/game ... rpg_0.teaa
This version contains tons of improvements to player doll equipment, the Darkwood UI, terrain, objects, just about everything. But most are still incomplete, so check out the Human males for the best representation of where player dolls are going. Thanks to rexcorum for his help with the new two-handers, you can see his work on some of the classes still!
You can also now download the file from the te4.org addon section. Thanks DG!
UPDATED FOR 1.0.1!
installation info
1. Download the above file and move it to your t-engine\game\addons\ folder.
2. Start a new character. After your player loads, go to the optons menu -> graphic mode. Pick "Old RPG" for the tileset. All four modes (64x64, 48x48, 32x32, 16x16) will work. The tileset will load when you close the main menu. Also, as long as you have oldrpg as your current tileset, the new player windows will show the oldrpg tiles. Preview all the races!
3. Have fun!
Thanks for checking this out. And thanks to all the wonderful artists at Square/Enix and other classic companies - all credit goes to them for great character design! Finally a big thank you to Darkgod and crew for such a wonderful game, it really is a ton of fun! Your help along the way has been invaluable to this project as well!

Cool as well,
Is the hud available anywhere?
What is necessary to add HUD graphics? I would like to try my hand as some as well.

Re: Old RPG Tileset - beta release
Thanks again
You can download it here (extract to base t-engine directory): http://www.mediafire.com/?9mg1u3ef2rh37hr
Or restore the default with this (same deal): http://www.mediafire.com/?81eiucmbc58i0p2
All of the default hud textures can be found in game/engines/default/data/gfx/ui
You can use any image manipulation / painting program to edit them. I use the poor man's photoshop, GIMP - GNU Image Manipulation Program. It's free. http://www.gimp.org. It's pretty daunting at first but stick with it and you start moving around pretty well. The most difficult part is getting the textures to line up next to each other properly, and envisioning a bigger picture from such a tiny pattern.
You can preview your work within ToME by editing the file in engines/default/data/gfx/ui/, then saving that file, and finally loading a player in ToME. Entering/Exiting the Main Menu will reload all graphics files. Good Luck!

Re: Old RPG Tileset - beta3c (updated for b22)
I suggest you add a post each time you update so that people notice

Re: Old RPG Tileset - beta3c (updated for b22)

Re: Old RPG Tileset - beta3d
Very neat!
So damn a shame about the licence :/
I'll someday add a way to add mods to a game from within the interface, so this should be easier to use

Re: Old RPG Tileset - beta3d
might i suggest something like what Battle for Wesnoth uses for user submitted content? here is a screen shot of the menu system: click
it is pretty simple yet effective, and afaik wesnoth is fully open source! maybe you could contact one of the programmers to see if you could borrow some code! this might involve finding a server to use to host the data though, not sure if that's feasible. but this could lead to being able to easily share other campaigns, tilesets, mods, etc. you could also make it so only "approved" mods get hosted (ones that the team deems worthy).
i dunno, just a thought! ps - next version of oldrpg out soon, fixed the jaggies on the mountains... trying to finish up objects. working on the elf changes, might redo the whole set of shalore because nothing there looks very elf-like. thinking about adding player tiles, but not sure. kinda want to change the orcs around too. but beta 4 is coming and will also include music!

Re: Old RPG Tileset - beta3d
Gah! I have not seen that game. Hastily getting it right now!
Any other gems like that floating around?
And again, great work on the tileset.
And TONS of thanks for DarkGod for letting them and future tilesets incorporate so easily!
Regards,
~Robin

This is really cool. Nice work.
Re: Old RPG Tileset - beta3d
Thanks! I'm soo happy people are checking this out!
Sorry about the lack of updates lately, I just finished a move and haven't had much time to work on this project lately. But things are getting more stable and more free time is coming! Beta 4 shouldn't be too far away, it's mostly ready but I really want it to be polished and complete, music n all. Keep checking back!
