Online profile strangeness (b21)

Hm. Before I begin, prolly should mention I'm stuck in one of those "broadband not-spots" on satellite internet. But anyway, my online profile correctly shows a bunch of old data, but nothing new. No new deaths, no new characters, no new achievements (probably should throw in something to block the "size matters" achievement from the Mouth fight in the Deep Below, hah), and no yeek unlock displayed. When I play, I get continual "Connection to online server lost." and the reconnect messages as well. Game chat log icon will highlight on occasion, but nothing is ever there. Is this because I'm stuck on satellite internet?

Edit: Every time I try to log on at the start screen, I get a "logon failed!" message, and when I get back to the main menu the "logged in as (my rl name as a link to the tome user page)" in the lower right of the screen. Starting/loading a game takes about 30-45 seconds longer if I do this, and gets me a red "Online profile disabled due to bad game version" message. Tried dl'ing a new tome b21, tried delet... well, renaming the T-Engine folder in my user dir, tried nomusic tome b21, nothing seems to make this problem go away.

You might want to look into tcp/ip settings optimization for satellite links for your operating system. Your satellite provider might be able to help you there.

Tweaking TCP/IP settings fixed the online profile disabled due to bad game version part, still get fake login failed messages that result in an online profile link being displayed at main menu. Also can see general/tome chat [user count] on the chat window, but nothing seems to happen there. Connection lost/reconnecting messages seem to happen more frequently now.

Edit to avoid double-posting: OK, I can see number of people in general/tome chat maybe once every 10 attempts to play/load, and 50% of the time when it doesn't work I get the bad game version spam. Still get the attempting to reconnect message spam. Dunno what else I can do, tried everything I can think of. Used SuYin WinUtilities to tweak TCP/IP settings, on Vista Home Premium 32bit.

I have the same problem on 21b. Also, when I first enter the game with a new character, the dialog box that says registering character blah blah never goes away and I can't actually play.

Yeah, I got that dialog box that refused to allow me to play for one day, it went away and hasn't been seen since. Yesterday I was playing my mindslayer and ended up getting the lua error dialog box about 80% of the time when it saved my game when I left an area. Was an OnlineProfile.lua error as I recall. Ended up putting humourous "What was I doing?" messages in and hitting send after the first 5 of them, though. Got bored after about 20 of that, went back to more helpful messages.

Sucks living in the middle of nowhere with no options but satellite or dial-up. At this point I think I'd get better service our of dial-up, if I even had a phone line..

I don't know exactly how it works, but I wonder if Darkgod can work some code in to accomodate people with higher pings? Satellite latency is horrible. Mine is about 1000ms at it's best.

Minor correction to earlier post, was a PlayerProfile.lua:saveGenericProfile error. Now, sometimes I get 2 or 3 per save progress bar.
