T-engine using lots of CPU time

#1 Post by Lord Estraven »

As soon as I start T4, it uses 99% of my CPU power, and continues to do so for several minutes. The recent pre-init.lua fix makes it fast, but doesn't change the CPU consumption.

After a few minutes the CPU use drops to 20-25%. This isn't so bad, but I'm still fairly sure it's too much.

CPU use maxes out again when loading, saving, or apparently doing anything that needs disk IO.

Hardware: Acer Aspire laptop with a Celeron M 520 CPU @1.6GHz, 1.5 GB of DDR2 RAM, and Intel 945 graphics

Software: up-to-date Debian Squeeze with Xfce

This may be fixed in the next beta since there was a bug (fixed in the SVN) that caused the file loading to be quite slow.
<DarkGod> lets say it's intended

Yeah this is probably the IO stuff.

If you wanna try you should grab the current svn, it has the fix
