Temporal Rift

#1 Post by prsmith »

My Oldman Berserker made his way into the temporal and killed many, many critters

Now what??? I see no end goal here. No portal - no boss- what am I missing?

Treat it the same way as trollmire or old forest. Look for next level entrance

And there be the problem - from within the rift I can not find the entrance or exit to the first level which I am on - i have examined almost every square of the map

On the right edge, it's a bit black...examine the description carefully, but really, the tile should look different...
Why can't TOME 4 has a secret room where you can represent game bugs as, well, enemies you can crush like in Divine Divinity? That would be cool...

I passed through the first rift into the lumberjack camp and killed all of the elementals there but nothing is happening. There is one area of the map that has the animation for some strange aura and causes random status effects while I'm in it but I've equipped my golem with see invisible and bombarded the entire are with spells without seeing or hitting anything. What am I missing to continue?

When I did it I had to kill the boss in each area (I think lumberjack is first) to move on. Maybe bump each square to check?

This is a bug that'll be fixed next release. Unfortunately the only way out of this is to unlock cheat mode and move down to level three of the rift.

Sorry :( I was in a rush and forgot to rename the boss so it shares a name with another boss.

Will enabling cheat mode prevent me from unlocking the time mage class?

Kinda, it'll kick you over to a development profile and put the unlock in that folders allowed builds most likely.

You can copy it out of that file though and into your normal profile.

The bug will be fixed next beta, for now if you don't want to mess with cheating just make sure not to do the lumberjack quest.

I've had this problem and managed to get around it with the cheat mode and get the unlock. Here's how:

1. Enable cheat mode (by putting a cheat.cfg file in the ToME config folder with the text "cheat = true").
2. Open cheat menu (ctrl+a) and choose Summon Monster (or whatever the option is)
3. Choose the Cursed dude - he should be top of the list
4. Save and close, delete the cheat file, reopen and play on as normal

Incidentally, my character didn't do the lumberjack quest, and I've not been able to get the quest to activate at all in spite of persistent attempts. When I landed in the temporal alternative village there lumberjack's Gloom cloud was there, and remained there, but there was no boss.

It's possible he was just invisible in some weird way. Did you try attacking the center of said gloom cloud?

Of course! I tried doing several dozen twilight surges and area attacks around the epicentre of the gloom cloud, but without anything happening. I was still affected by the Gloom cloud, even losing life every now and then from the gloom shock thing, but there was absolutely no NPC there. Summoning the dude through the cheat mode advanced everything fine.

Nah, there's a bug. I introduced it by not renaming him :(
