[1.7.4] Graphics card incompatability

Hello tomers. I'm reposting this issue from the tome4 subreddit.

In short, I have been using the same laptop to run tome since circa 2014 (Lenovo Thinkpad laptop with Intel HD Graphics 620). I came back recently though and the game looks borderline unintelligible using the exact same video options that have worked for me this whole time. Screenshots here: https://imgur.com/a/jZoBjcV

I've seen others bring this issue up already in other reddit/discord posts (https://reddit.com/r/ToME4/comments/s3o ... nstalling/), and switching to fullscreen has been suggested as a fix. When I run in fullscreen though, there are some weird graphical artifacts that pop up. The worst part is that most of the skills screen is cut off. So the game is basically unplayable for me. I've tried changing resolution and fiddling with all of the display options. Nothing renders the game the way it used to appear before whatever update broke the graphics.

I saw on discord that an update introduced compatibility issues with certain graphics cards. It seems like the game is broken for a portion of the playerbase. Are the devs aware that this is an issue affecting many players? And has anyone found a workaround that those of us with the incompatible graphics cards can use to play the game in the meantime?

Have you tried disabling shaders?

Yes, I have disabled shaders. I've also tried changing every other option in the video options menu, including all available resolutions. No matter what I do, the game still does not render properly. This is all on a laptop that I have used to play tome for a long time. I've tried reinstalling and even reformatting the hard drive, nothing has worked so far. And I was so close to beating the master on insane :(

Well this is sub-optimal.
Other options you could try:
Compatibility settings.
Different video driver versions. Most likely older ones, but sometimes newer ones do fix things.
