While I'm not entirely sure if this is a bug or not, this interaction is not stated anywhere within the game.

Thematically, though, it makes sense as the use of Vim in game is in direct contrast to nature, Equilibrium.

Even if it's not a bug and intended, having a tooltip somewhere to tell you these costs would be very helpful.

Vim-based talents increasing equilibrium is intended.

It probably should still mention something somewhere (maybe if hovering over Vim/ Equilibrium resource bars) if you somehow contain both types of resources like on an adventurer or learned from an escort.
