ToME: the Tales of Maj'Eyal

Never seen this one before - playing some Alchemist last night and this morning went to load the save and it... wasn't what I was expecting.

Here is the character dump - everything is in working order here.

However on the load screen we have this: screencap appears correct but the level and location are not. Haven't tried loading it up, afraid the "earlier" character will replace the "older" one. Any salvaging this one or should I just delete and start over?

Playing via Steam if that's of any help.

Are you using cloud saving?
If so it's heavily recommended to turn it off since it can be buggy.

I do indeed have Cloud Saving on, would be loathe to turn it off seeing as it lets me play the same characters between my home desktop and my take-to-school laptop, though if it means running the risk of having an entire night of gameplay wiped out in the future I'll have to make the change.

I take it there's no way to restore the 'older' version of the character?
