ToME: the Tales of Maj'Eyal

On the website I get this message when I go to "My Characters" in my profile:

"No characters available."

I own the game on Steam and am logged into the correct account.

I can see my characters if I access in game character list and I can also copy that URL and then access it online.

However if I then go to "My Profile" then again to "My Characters" it comes up blank.

I used to own free version of the game stand alone so perhaps there is a syncing issue?

Any help would be appreciated.
