ToME: the Tales of Maj'Eyal

Hey there! I'm not sure if this falls under a bug report in all honesty, but my entire time of playing I have never gotten a Transmog chest. I was told I would usually start with one but I never do. I even tried playing as a Cornac Berserker and killing Bill but no transmog chest appeared. I do have some mods on that allow me to unlock races and classes from the start, but when I sent these mods to my friend, he never had this same issue I am having. I've even tried disabling all the mods I am using, and even the DLC. Still nothing.

I googled it and searched a couple of pages on these forums, but found no threads showing something similar. If there's anything further I can post to help come to a conclusion onto why this may be happening, then please ask. I feel as if this is an important item I am missing.

I'm very sorry if this kind of thread doesn't go here. I feel like it is technically a bug but I could be wrong.

Edit: I thought I should note that I am using the steam version of the game.

I believe that you have to reach Fortress, insert the rod, and buttler give you chest if you first timer.

Nope, it should be enough to kill Bill the Stone Troll.
I just tried with a new, empty --home folder.
Start a new character -> no chest,
kill Bill -> Bill drops the chest; pick it up, chest works
save that character,
start a new character -> has the chest from the beginning.


But: as far as I can see, none of the characters of the original poster has finished "hidden treasures" (I didn't check the very low level ones). The mentioned Berserkers only killed Prox (the boss in Trollmire 3) and not Bill (the boss in the initially hidden Trollmire 4)

So: just go, hurt Prox, pick up the paper to open up Trollmire 4, go there, kill Bill, pick up the chest.
