Are throwing knives considered 'melee' for the purpose of the game? If they are not, then there may be a bug. I have noticed that I will take damage when I hit certain enemies with throwing knives. When I close in I take the same amount of damage with a melee hit. This seems to be 'damage on melee hit' but I am not sure.

Intentional. Throwing knives are a "melee attack at a range" kind of thing.

I think I remember reading in the description that they "are considered melee for on-hit effects."
