Ferex,
"Chant Illuminate
First talent level: 1
- Talent category known
- Lower talents of the same category: 4
- Level 4"
I've tried increasing Chant Acolyte to 4/5, but that didn't work.

This bug applies to Hymn talents as well as the Chant talents. Anorithil is pretty much unplayable as a result

How is it unplayable when you effectively get three of the old talents, in one talent?

You can't get the hymn lazors anymore though which was the hymn I maxed usually

Also the sun paladin quest escort might be a good idea to be updated.
Rescued one as a sun paladin and the talents rewards did not make sense as I already had the talents.

It should be fine. It just allows you to increase the strength of a specific Chant.
