ToME: the Tales of Maj'Eyal

So I hit another odd bug with the game. I was at the beach scene, but had to save and quit out of it. I re-opened ToME to play it, but no dialogue occurred and it would not let me leave to the world map. I couldn't leave the map at all. I used the rod of recall to pop out and go back to last hope. While there, Melinda starts the dialogue as if the full scene was finished. However, when I go to the sher'tul fort, the guardian thingy doesn't have the dialogue to finish the quest.

Note, i've already finished the quest on other characters, so it's not a huge problem for me. the laptop with the save is currently offline, so I can't post the save yet.
