Mouse clicks causing crashes

As odd as that title may seem, it is the truth. I reported an issue with constant crashes with TE4 1.4.5 whilst playing on my laptop (i7 Ivy Bridge, Win10 x64, integrated graphics), issues I had never had before. The game would freeze before an error message would appear, and I saw nothing specific that caused it. I sent my saved game to Stunt for a look, but he too could find nothing that would cause an issue and suggested it was something in my system (driver, whatever). I then copied my save to my desktop (i5, Win7, AMD 7870), and it crashed in less than a minute.

I ran across the 'solution' quite by accident then. Since my laptop does not have a proper NumPad, I play almost entirely with the mouse, clicking everywhere to move and do things. On the desktop not. Noting it was more comfortable to use the keyboard, I decided to weather a few crashes, with regular saves, using it. The result was unexpected: No crashes. I played for over an hour with no issues.

I saved, started moving my mouse for moves as before and it crashed in 30 seconds. I have no explanation, and am just reporting.

I had a similar problem. The game sometimes completely froze when i used movement infusion and mouse or shift+arrow keys. But i couldn't reproduce it for a new character.

I think I have a VERY similar problem. Hope this will be fixe soon, makes the game kind of unplayable.

Registered to back this up, was loving the game until this happened.

Same here, and it didn't start until the late teens on my newest character, before then I'd had no problems. Reset all settings to default, removed all equip, everything I could think of but nothing fixed it. Sucks because it's so much slower playing with a keyboard, but I can't find a reliable way of not crashing every 30 seconds to few minutes otherwise.

Can we use an older version where this doesn't happen? Been 20 days since this was posted and no notes from dev or anything so I doubt it'll be messed with any time soon :( Shame, I was just about to donate to get the vault storage, but I'm not interested in playing a game where I'm tied to crawling around with my keyboard, been too spoiled by mouse moving early.

Has there been any response from developers?

Edit: "Use mouse to move" already exists.

Developers really need more info to deal with this.
Such as:
A method for reproducing the problem.
A save file where the problem is about to happen. (Might not be useful in this case.)
Someone to enable flush log and play the game until it breaks and then post the bottom part of the log file.

I reproduced it with proper logs and test character. http://forums.te4.org/viewtopic.php?f=42&t=46098

It happens to me everytime I play a Bulwark Cornac, and I use step up lvl 5. If I start to click further of the tile next to me (to run from an enemy or to approach), sometimes crashes. I think it crashes a lot more when no enemies are near, I mean, when I kill the last mob and step up procs, I move it crashes a lot of times. If I wan't to avoid that, I have to rest "r" before moving, to consume the step up proc. But when it crashes in combat, there's nothing I can do.

Some people have noticed it with movements infusions over 1.000% movement speed, but I never had one with 1.000%+ movement speed. When I use low lvl movement infusions like 400-600% never crashes to me.

I can indeed reproduce it with Tyren's test char & procedure!
Much thanks :)

I'll get on whipping the bug until it dies!

It'll be in next patch release :)

Thanks -- I'm glad that this will be fixed, because I think that it's what was causing me to play very little; I'd reached the point where I could play for under a minute at a time before the game crashed. Unfortunately -- and I don't know if this is related -- I now can't start a new character at all. When I try, there's a flash on the screen as though an error report appeared for a fraction of a second, but I can't be sure; otherwise, nothing happens. I've turned off all the add-ons aside from the game modules, but it makes no difference.

I doubt it's related, check the te4_log.txt file and see if you can find the error; or just make a new thread and post the file :)

Will do, thanks.

I've just Searched for te4_log.txt and nothing came up.... The latest file from the error-reports directory read:
